It pours with a light brown head, but has a whiff of skunky smell to it. Color is a dark reddish brown that reminds me of root beer. Taste is okay, nothing spectacular or overly noticeable.

(Flasche) Es hat eine dunkelbraune Farbe mit einem ganz leichten rötlichen Einstich, ist klar filtriert mit einer weißen Schaumkrone. Das Aroma ist malzig-süß, leicht röstig und im Hintergrund ist eine starke nussige Karamell Note erkennbar. Der Geschmack ist wässrig, etwas röstig, etwas süß und im Hintergrund malzig. Bittere ist kaum vorhanden.

(bottle) pours a clear deep ruby colour with a frothy light beige head. aroma of heavy butter, fresh wort, raisins and caramel. flavour is slightly more mellow, with big notes of raisins, light toasted malts, a hint of cardboard and a light lingering sweetness. light to medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Ein durchschnittliches Dunkel mit den gewoehnlichen Aromen. Nuesse mit Karamell und geroestetes Malz. Dunkelbraun in der Farbe und etwas muffligem Abgang. Ganz nett, aber nicht besonders.

Deep dark hazelnut colour with creamy steady head and medium body. Nose of malt. Taste of nuts, light coffee, torf, burnt caramel, dark malt, roast and nuts. Nice Dunkel but nothing special.

500 ml bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, pear, apple, toast, toffee, nuttiness, brown sugar, brown bread, floral, and light earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and of malt and fruity ester notes; with decent strength. Taste of caramel, pear, apple, toast, toffee, nuttiness, light roast, brown sugar, brown bread, floral, light pepper, and floral earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, toast, toffee, nuttiness, light roast, brown bread, floral, light pepper, and floral earthiness on the finish for a bit. Very nice flavor balance of malt, hop, and ester flavors; with a good amount of robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good dunkel lager. Good robustness and balance of malt and moderate fruity esters; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

500mL bottle. Poured medium brown with a short, spotty beige head. The aroma picked up quite sweet chocolate and nutty malts with a bit of orange zest and herbal hop accent.. seemed well done for the style. The flavor found sweet, lightly-roasted black and dry chocolate malts with a solid dose of herbal and earthy hops accenting.. finished with brighter carbonation, hops, and a hit of acidity.. tasty stuff. Lighter-bodied and engaging (especially for the style) on the palate.. good feel and flow.. nice one.

12-oz. Pours a very clear dark brown. Light tan thin head. Toasty brown bread nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toasty brown bread mid palate with a long toasty finish.

500ml bottle pours a dark reddish brown with small beige head but good lacing. Aroma is not strong but full of roasted malts, caramel, plastic, and perhaps prunes. Body is medium with average carbonation. Taste is bitter but without the nutty finish I’ve come to expect from a Dunkel. Mildly dissapointed with this one.

500ml bottle in a lager glass. Pours deep brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of pale, cereal, and caramel malts plus light hops. Flavor bland and sort of metallic. Average texture. Not the best for the style.
