(bottle - 330 ml) Dark brown color with a mound of tan foam. Aroma is light and slightly fruity with some dark malts and some very light spice. Flavor is sweet and lightly spiced at the beginning with a hint of raisins, chocolate, and yeast. Alcohol is warming at the end with a very bubbly mouthfeel.

12 oz bottle. Hazy dark brown color with a thick tan head. Aromas are weak, but there are some dark fruits along with some chocolate and spice. The mouthfeel is pretty close to perfect, well carbonated yet creamy. The flavors have some sweet flavors up front, sweet malts and raisin, with some good dryness at the end.

07/24/09: 12 oz bottle. Poured into tulip glass, it is dark brown, slightly cloudy, with a thick creamy off-white head. Smells of fruit. Taste is also of fruit - raisins, malt, perhaps coffee? Medium body and low hops, well balanced and good feel in the mouth. A fine dubbel.

Pours cloudy, brown with thick off white head. Aroma of dark fruits. Taste of cherries, raisins, and caramel. Huge malt backbone. Medium mouthfeel. Good beer.

From a 330mL Bottle. Courtesy of oteyj. Mostly cloudy, ruddy, cedar bark brown colored body with a thick layer of fizzy cream head. Distinctive yeast profile that contains hints of toasted coconut and raisin esters along with a perfumey phenolic spice. Hints of chocolate fudge and prune. Medium bodied, heavily carbonated mouthfeel with a soft, almost creamy texture. Sweet malt flavors of raisins, toasted nuts, and cocoa up front on the palate, developing more of a tannic, prune skin dryness toward the finish. The yeast contributes a bright, white pepper quality toward the finish, enhancing the perception of dryness. Low levels of hop bitterness left lingering on the palate. A well deserved world classic. Thanks, James!

Pours dark with a nice creamy head that goes away after a little while. The aroma is a little spicy with dark fruit hints. The flavors were well balanced. A good dubbel.

Big dense creamy head when poured out. Soft armoa, somewhat spicey (pepper). Colour red-brown. Hints of caramel, coffee and walnuts, a bit of hops. Smooth long finish, a bit sweet but not widespread.

A dark brown beer with a small quickly disappearing head. The taste is dark fruit, almost like dark fermented fruit. You sure can taste the alcohol in this.
