21 Mar 2011 really dark ruby, clear, thin, rocky tan head. soft nose. yeasty bananas. med/thin body and very fizzy. almost explodes in your mouth. this is almost a "technically" perfect beer w/ no personality. yeast isn’t robust, malt isn’t big. there is some coffee bitterness but otherwise, just fizzy bland dubbel.

Dark, coffee colour with excellent head retention and lace. The nose is slightly elusive, but banana comes through with a little bit of apple/pear in the background. Nice lemon yoghurt, spice and yeast finish. Big structure, creamy/zingy texture and a refreshing finish.

bottle@home: dominant sweet malt with some caramel, raw, brown sugar, hint of herbs, touch of hops, medium body, slightly creamy, nice dubbel, tap@café/restaurant across the monetary/brewery: similar to the bottle version but more balanced & bit richer & creamier (rated for tap version which is preferable)

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy dark brown with a large head. Aroma is raisin malt, some yeast present as well. Rasin malt finish. Fruity malt on the aftertaste. Lots of carbonation.

Pours a cloudy brown with a hint of orange when held up to a light. The thin tan head gently laces the glass. A high level of carbonation results in a constant stream of bubbles. Pleasant malt, spicy fruit, and prune aromas. Full bodied with a rich creamy mouthfeel. The spicy Belgian yeast character burst on the tongue accompanied by sweet malt, prune, and raisin notes.

Excellent dubbel, I’m always pleased to find it sold at a pub where there’s nothing I haven’t tried.

Bottle sample purchased at Zyn Calgary. Pours a dark brown with a slight ruby hue. Nice fizzy white head, and leaves decent cascading lace. The aroma is not super strong but it is nice, and of dark fruits and a little spice. The taste is just amazing, caramel, fruit, spice, maybe a little vanilla. Just a wonderful brew.
