Serve in Trappist glass

bottle. fluffy tan head, amber color. aroma of dark fruits. taste is crisp, a light sourness at first. fruit comes out as it warms. dry finish.

Dark brown head with a creamy light brown head. Looks beautiful in its chalice. Aroma is lightly fruity with hints of malt and chocolate. Taste is sweet and roasted with hints of fruit. Balanced magnificently with a light bitter finish. Glorious!

Birra notevole che dell’equilibrio tra note maltate e luppolo un punto di forza. Color rubino, schiuma notevole e persistente al naso è malto, caramello e una punta di luppolo. Al palato è ben strutturata con note più accentuate di luppolo e leggermente vinosa. Ottima!

33 mL bottle into a Westmalle glass. Very dark beer with a hint of purple. Looks the business. Good but short lived head. Very rich and strong tasting head, but subtley blended. A very rich and strong trappist beer which hides its alcohol strength well. Tastes special and always has, one of my favourite beers in the world. Rich and full and with a few hidden features that require further tasting. Excellcent.

bel colore rubino scuro con notevole schiuma di medio-lunga durata.aroma vinoso e fruttato (banana prugna) e gia si sente il luppolo!!in bocca stuzzica una nota piccante e una perfetta frizzantezza!poi pian piano si sente l’alcool il mallto tostato lla frutta secca !al palato esce una sorprendente luppolaturra !grande birra!

taste: start is malts and yeast , then comes some candy and or sweet taste, irony in the end and a bit dry ... not bad but there are better dubbel trappists ...

Pour into chalice glass, reddish brown, cloudy with sediment. Thought the aroma would burst out of this close to 2 year old bottle as the beer did, but no strong pleasant odor was noticed. To taste, I got plum, other dark fruits, red wine taste. Palate is a little thin, fruity all the way with a touch of sourness. Bad bottle? Poor storage? Kind of underwhelming.

A 1970s bottle sourced from a collector in Belgium. Cloudy brown beer, still carbonated! Sharp and sour with a dry bitter finish. Nice but a bit too dry.
