| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Pours a dark brownish-red with light haze and frothy off-white head. Aroma is of black currant, belgian spices, yeast and other dark fruit. Taste is dark fruit with black currant, belgian spice, yeast and some candied sugar. Moderate carbonation and a slightly dry finish, it lacks a bit of complexity as it’s Trappist counterparts. Petrucci914 (603), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Celebrated a new job with a couple of these. Mmmmm. I love a good dubbel and to me this is one of the best. It pours a dark brown with a very nice head into a snifter. The aroma is nuts and fruit. The mouth is very full and a ton of wonderful, complex flavors float around at you. It can be specy at times, sweet at others, fruity but mostly balanced. I would say the body is slightly beyond medium. It has an outstanding finish that really sticks around. Travlr (849), Washington, Washington DC, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 20, 2008 330 ml bottle. Orval trappist chalice. Pours a dark, hazy brown with a generous, dark tan head. Excellent lacing. Aroma is chocolate, black cherries, raisins, alcohol, vanilla extract. But overall the aroma is fairly muted. Taste is very sweet- almost like Dr. Pepper or black cherry soda. Alcohol is nicely hidden. Light to medium bodied with some good carbonation. Aftertaste is sweet, chocolaty, and short lasting. Very nice and unique from the traditional dubbel.
