Bottled. Very dark red-brown. Clear. A huge foamy, light brown head. Warm aromas of clove, spice, and bubblegum. Slightly acidic, with warmth from the alcohol, burnt caramel flavour, and clove/spice again. Smooth and well balanced, with a clean finish. Very good.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2015 Dark brown with amber tones. Large lingering head. Intense aroma: honey, caramel, prunes, dates... Very interesting lactic notes. CO2 is well integrated, giving it a mousse texture. Medium sweet, lively, with a long ending with no bitterness. Delicious.

Bottle on caliz. This is just a fantastic dubbel. Brown dark with a fantastic beige head. Malty, fruity, earty aroma with a nice sweet taste. Full body, creamy and thick with a long finish. Allways a pleasure!

33cl bottle from Carrefours (only EUR1 !). Sour nose, notes of banana and burnt caramel. Brown/ dark red beer with fluffy cream head. It looks still but the mouthfeel is zingy. Aftertaste is burnt malt, banana followed by a late sourness. Alcohol is present throughout.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2015 33 cl bottle@home in trappist glass. Approx 10 degrees C. Pours almost pitch black with a reddish tint and a light brown head. Rather faint aroma of malt, bread and a faint citrussy fruit. Fizzy dark taste - this is a young example with a BBF in August 2016. A slight metallic twist thankfully quickly disappears and the roasted malt and dark dried fruit begins to take over with a nice bitterness in the aftertaste. Now it is showing it’s mettle and the alcohol is kept very nicely in check. Well balanced beer. Look forward to cellaring a bottle of this as I sure it only gets better the next couple of years or five. Also tried on tap where any hint of the metallic twist was thankfully gone...so the rating stands!
