5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Reddish brown with nice tan head. Full roast aroma very pleasant, and a backbone of cedar. The dried fruit flavors set this apart from all other inferior brews. Very rich coating mouthfeel. Awesome brew.

Bottle pours dark brown with light ruby red edges. Nose is dark bready fruit and multi grain, wheat, nutty cola, fig, plum. Taste is similar with nice creaminess to the mouthfeel, nice finish of dark fruits, cola, mixed dark nuts and whole grain dark bread.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, Le Vieux Saint-Josse, Brussels. One of my early favourites among the Trappist bears and Belgian ales more generally. Although I moved on since, this is still a very nice double. Reddish brown, beige head, dominated by roasted malts, cloves, wood.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Being brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey on a small scale under the supervision of the monks is a good thing. This beer wowed me.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: SEP 27, 2014 Big foamy head. Aroma of pine and roasted malts but also chocolate. Really dark and a big almost white head. High carbonation. Pretty bitter and full roasted flavour and wood. Dry and also candy, coffee and some bitter hops and fresh dried red fruit flavours. Thats sounds like a lot, but it is all well balanced. Bitter dry aftertaste, nice!

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is the beer that made me fall in love with Trappist Beers alltogether actually. It was love at first sight and smell. Beautiful thick, dark, & heavy but light.

0,33 l in Westmalle trappist glass. Dark red brown colour, clear liquid. Fruity nose as well as aroma. Begins slightly sweet and ends with dry bitterness. Somewhat creamy texture. Medium to full body. Lively carbonation. Great beer.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.33L bottle. Pours clear dark red-brown with a rocky tan head. Really nice, and noteworthy aromas. Clove, bubblegum, rubber (not unpleasant), plum. Very mild sweetness at beginning, transitions to almost nothing in the middle, then the bubblegum sweetness kicks in, followed by yeast and resiny/herby hop biterness. Medium-full body with an oily mouthfeel and average carbonation. Overall, on the herbier side for a dubbel (not too sweet). Some really nice aromas, but flavor profile is somewhat muted.
