4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Swaroga (255) - Brussels, BELGIUM - NOV 11, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 4, 2012 33cl bottle. Pours a dark cherry red with a tanned head. Nose : Very fruity : raspberry, cherry, ananas, pear. Driend fruits. Mettalic. Caramel. Sip : Great body : foamy but not when swallowed. Small carbonation. Dried fruits and spicy notes. Cinnamon. Good beer. (it’s been a while I havent drink this beer. My rating confirms but this bottle has a strong whysky and dried plums notes. Quite bitter deep toffee tones. I then opened another bottle, from a different batch and it was different again. More like the usual one. What a surprise. I’ll keep the strange whiskey 3 bottles I have left so I can confirm the difference with "authorities")

A: Dark brown with cherry hues and over a finger of billowed mocha foam. This falls slowly to a quilt of the same. Limited lace. Excellent clarity where allowed. (4.5)
S: nougat, bread (rye), cereal, cocoa, nuts (cashews). A hint of spice I’m having a hard time placing (nutmeg?). Slightest finish of praline. (4.5)
T: Cocoa, prune, sugar, bread, raisin, pralines again. Nice flavor, let this one warm up a bit folks. (4.5)
M: Medium on light for the body with carb a little on the hi side. Semi dry finish. All partshere are a bit off for me. (2)
O: Good example of the style. The mouthfeel on this is off for me, and some of the flavors are a bit tough to pick out (part of the fun!). It’s a good example of the style IMO. (4)
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 cards04 (171) - Manitoba, CANADA - NOV 7, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2012 One of my favorites. The beers most prominent aroma is of dark dried fruit - but not overwhelmingly. And its dark brown appearance lends itself nicely to the dried fruit notes. On the palette, its bliss. Almost heady for me. Dried dates and raisins are the flavors I first detect. Has a very smooth finish. Delicious!
