A reddish brown trappist ale, malty and fruit, featuring a 3 week secondary fermentation. This ale has a full, pale yellow head. The bouquet is full of esters and fruitiness. Notes of ripe banana predominate. The taste is fruity and slightly bitter, with a long, dry finish.

330ml bottle into a tulip. Pours a clear very dark brown, nearly opaque. Topped by a huge billowy off-white head that keeps growing thanks to the abundant carbonation. Some of the best head retention I have every seen. Aroma has lots of dark fruit such as figs and cherries layered on top of wood. Hints of pipe tobacco along with wet grass and hay. A little bit of light cocoa underneath. The flavor really has tons going on. Like in the aroma, dark fruit predominantly up front consisting largely of cherries and figs. A decent woody note is present along with a little bit of must although it nicely compliments the other flavors. Grass comes in next along with a moderate, cleansing bitterness. The beer finishes dry on the palate with bitterness lingering long after all other flavors depart. Overall, a truly complex and amazing beer. There is really so much going on here and the flavors change as the beer warms. One of the classics.

Some esters that make this a decent brew, but really lacks the full experience of other, better trappist beers.

BB 18.12.16. Bottled. 27 srm. Dark brown, tan hue. Big banana fruit. Banana cream pudding with freshly baked bread crumbs, not runts. Guessing lower attenuation, but not out of range, from light umami... or heavy amount of residual cooked kettle sugar. Red jolly rancher covered in tootsie rolls type sweetness. Heavy hand of specialty caramel malts added, no roast. Intense aroma.

Dark, bittersweet beer. Caramel in the nose. Small brown head. A little bit sticky in the mouth. This one must be drunk at the recommended temperature, because when its too cold or to warm it realy tastes different (and thats not in a good way).

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer looks like something you can draft from a sewer. But don’t let that stop you! A really nice experience that a gladly will go for again. Great taste and a palate that really lingers.

Aroma of chocolate, caramel and slightly fruity. Brown and hazy liquid, white frothy head. Powerful taste of sweetness, and medium bitterness. Tiny sourness. Full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, quit long bitter-sweet finish. I really like this dubbel from Westmalle, great beer!

absolutely amazing beer! It is perfect in every way.... the only issue I have is whether to order a Dubbel or Tripel, both are perfect in their own way
