4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is an absolutely exceptional beer. There aren’t many things wrong with it at all. This Abbey Dubbel smells and tastes like Welch’s juice company brewed it. It comes out of the bottle very fizzy, with a ruby body and a substantial tan head. The smell is pure grape and prune juice. The taste is dominated by the grape and prune flavor, with some molasses in the background and something kind of smokey in there too. Every sip of this is a flavor explosion. I am definitely going to seek out more of this.

Really nice dubbel! A lot of roasted caramel and a little of wine at the end.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20

A really nice dark beer with a strong opening taste which slowly transforms into a soft nice taste.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Caramel, brown sugar, fruits and some yeast and spices in the aroma. Brown with a off-white head. Medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium body with a average to soft carbonation. Overall quite nice, but for me a tiny bit to thin and the alcohol slightly to present in the flavor.

Poured a very dark brown with a cloudy appearance. Did not smell as good as it tasted. Taste was strong, but well balanced. Good amount of carbonation. Overall ver impressed with this beer. Will be buying it again.

330ml bottle from Masuyo’s Liquors in Asagaya. Poured into a stemmed tulip. Pours a deep mahogany brown with a huge soapy beige head. Dark fruit, fig, malt and past-ripe bananas on the nose. Bitterness from hops present on the palate and tart apple crispness is also present. Full body, with a rich thick mouthfeel. Nice lingering dry finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Muddy brown with thin head. Aroma is pungent dates, toffee, dough. Taste is similarly fruity, especially as it warms up in the mouth. Relatively dry as dubbels go. Bubbly. Bit of spiciness on the finish. Don’t drink too cold.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
It’s been a while since my last Westmalle since it’s more of a yearly selection for the evil booze monster monopoly here in Ontario. It definitely one of my go-tos while in Belgium as it’s good and ubiquitous, thanks not those busy monks. This fella poured ALL head. A glass full actually, tortuously making me wait. The nose it full of sweet malts, sharp rich yeast, treacle, and awesome. The taste very heavy of dry hay malts, slight dried fruit, but it’s that rich, almost texturous yeast flavour of bread, rising dough, and a dry zestiness that nobody does like the Belgians. Awesome.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown color with beige head that goes down quickly. Fruity, spicy, malty, caramel, heavy. Lots of fruits. Smooth and high carbonation, but foamy mouthfeel. A good classic Dubbel. Very nice!

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown color and a small, but long lasting, beige head. Aroma and taste of malt, caramel, dried fruit and some alcohol. Not as good as the trippel at all, but deffinately a very decent classic trappist.
