4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Pailhead (3326) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - FEB 22, 2005
Bottle: Excellent aroma. Very malty and tons of fruit. Lots of grape. Pours a dark hazy transparent brown with a huge off-white head with great retention. Flavor is very malty and fruity. Just like the aroma tons of grape. Light caramel. A little sourness in the finish blends well. Grape comes stronger in the finish and leaves a nice aftertaste. Very smooth. Better than the trippel. Excellent beer. Could drink this all the time.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Boutip (3294) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 29, 2004
UPDATED: DEC 8, 2008 Bottle – Poured a red/brown quite opaque brew with a huge head with standard retention. Great carbonation with strong body. Aroma is very spicy with no alcohol noticeable. Taste is great with the usual Belgian style mix of malts and hops with some added roastiness to that one. The spice mix is a bit stronger then expected but overall very enjoyable. Overall, this is a good beer but I was expecting something greater from this well known Trappist.
Re-rate 2008: Creamy texture, no alcohol, bubblegum-like taste. Very well balance from a very fresh bottle. Wow
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Beerlando (3276) - Orlando, Florida, USA - AUG 14, 2007
Cloudy, dark brown body with amber edges. Frothy off-white head that settles to a 1mm film. Beautiful, sudsy lacing. Aroma is a bit subdued, but I picked up caramel malts, figs, and candied sugar. Flavor was more of the same, with caramelized malts leading the charge and dark fruits following closely behind. Not overly complex, but well crafted in its simplicity. The smells and tastes really intensify as the beer warms. Medium body that is sweet but not overly cloying. Very smooth and easy to drink. Quality across the board, but nothing really outstanding.

Bottle; Nose of plums, spice, and caramel; Hazy brown with a big tan head thats slowly disapates, lacing the glass lightly; flavor of sweet caramel, spicy malt, and dark fruit, with some oaky notes. Body light-medium with a tiny smidgeon of bitterness in the finish.

rated blind from "Better Know a Style: Abbey Dubbel" tasting. pours ruby with tan head. nose of licorice, nuts, dark fruits. flavor pretty alcoholy but not hot, grainy, tobacco. watery feel. under carbonated. this ended up being a big surpise that it was rated so low.
