Nice beer, especially with meat on the side. Nice dark colour and a very nice taste. Chocolate and dark fruits.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Indra (2323) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JUN 24, 2002
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2003 Dark reddish mahogany color, fine-bubbled and very persistent head. Aroma is quite complex, having some various dark and sweet fruits, a slightly medicinal component, and some dark sugar. Flavor is also quite complex, with the sweet-bready malty flavors dominating, but also a touch of wine. Creamy mouthfeel for such a style. Spicy and interesting yeast flavors in the finish. Medium bodied. I tried it both before and after I swirled and poured the yeast. The yeast added a bit of nuttiness and sharpness to the finish. Incredible lacing, this is an attractive beer, and a very nice one all around. Unique.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Schroppfy (2319) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - APR 5, 2002
Tremendous. Similar in body to St. Feuillen; spritzy but still full enough to let the flavors shine through. And the flavors!...a little raisin, plum, tart cherries. Malty, yeasty (but not too much), just a great dubbel. Incredibly rocky, off-white head that lasts and lasts.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheGrandMaster (2308) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 21, 2007
Bottle, pours black with a slight reddishness and a great foamy beige head (I liked the bottle as well). A fruity malt aroma with caramal and raisins and then a whiff of alcohol. Not as heavy or sweet as I was expecting. Light and malty at first, but then a much stronger sourness comes through and alcohol fills the mouth and the nostrils. There are some rich fruity flavours there, but it is the complex nature of the palate that carries me away. Damn good, can’t wait to taste the Tripel....
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 sunevdj (2306) - Copenhagen OE, DENMARK - JAN 13, 2006
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2007 Pours brown with a tanned head. Sweet with some bitterness. Aromas of fruits (prunes and pears) with some hints of yeast. Quite fizzy Co2 level. Long dry finish with some alcohol. Slightly overrated i reckon.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Benzai (2302) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - JUN 21, 2011
One of the best balanced beers I know and probably the best Abbey Dubbel I’ve had (so far (1178 now)). Brown colored. Nice smell, good taste. Very good carbonation. Very balanced, lovely beer.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 tkrjukoff (2286) - SWEDEN - MAY 23, 2010
Ooooh, just love this beer. Deep dark brown color with looong lasting large tanned head leaving great lacing on the glass. Complex aroma with raisins, fruits, spices and malts in aroma. Flavor is spicy, crisp, a bit sweet and malty, mmm. Full bodied and round on palate. Finishes a bit seet and hoppy. Enjoyable indeed.
