Smells of wet dog, cherries and new tires. Creamy dark brown with a head that is thin in the middle of the glass, but rises strong on the sides, concave in the glass. Bright red fruits, heavy weighted malt and yeast, clean throughout, though not all that married together. Lots of cola nut, some raspberry. There is no hype to live up to, but still doesn’t hold up to the expectations.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2005 Ruby-brown body with moderate carbonation and very fine particulates. Thick, rippled and very persistent frothy beige head. Aroma is malty with elements of dark fruits such as plums and poached cherries, plus dark rum, mild esters, dark candy sugar and cloves. Nice leathery flavor with a warm cherry character and elements of toffee, maple syrup and cognac. Medium organic sweetness and some stealthy bitterness. Mouthfeel screams "sugar", but is not so thin as to detract from the flavor, and creates some silky smoothness. This one grew on me with repeated samples, especially from fresh bottles. At the right moment, this beer can be downright sublime.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2008 Bottle, 33 cl. Re rated. Aroma yeast, fruits, caramel. Medium body. Mouthfeel is sharp and prickly. Taste dark fruits, plum, fig - but the mouthfeel ruins this brew for me.

Pours a dark reddish brown with a tan head. Aromas of caramel, malts, and fruity sugars. Mild malt flavors with a bit of sweetness. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a thin mouthfeel. I’m not a big fan of dubbels but this is one of the best I have tried.

Dark. Rich. Creamy. Hint of cherry. Nice malt taste. Not what you can buy everyday, but lovely.

Bottle. Pours a hazy brown with a one finger dense cream head and splotchy lacing. Nose is brown sugar, sweet dark fruits and yeast. Taste is caramel, brown sugar, dates, plums and alcohol. Creamy mouth feel. Good Dubbel.
