Pours a reddish brown with a massive thick beige head. Complex aroma of dates, plums, prunes, sweet malts, banana, grapes and dough bread. Slightly carbonated taste of dark fruit, dough bread, yeast and malts. Not as good as some of the other higher rated belgiums.

Bottle, BevMo La Mesa. Pours a dark maroon color. Very rich dark fruit is noticable in the aroma. Some spice and yeast as well. Fairly good sized head. Citric bitterness up front. Some raisin and a hint of yeast. Seems to be very dry. Finish is a little hoppy and bitter.

Bottle: Murky reddish brown pour with a large off-white head. Nose of malt and sweet fruits. Tastes of sweet fruits, caramel, and malts. Just a subtle hint of spice. Very smooth and drinkable with a balanced amount of carbonation.

Pours a mahogany colour with a soft nutty aroma. A medium sized head that sticks around until the end. This beer has a very creamy mouthfeel, with a very pleasant, semi syrupy finish. Very tastey.

Deep brown in colour. Aroma was slighly sweet, of bananas, some yeast and alcohol. Flavour had a nice maltiness to it, with some citrus, smooth body. Finishes with a slight alcohol bitterness.

Bottle, best before April 11, 2009. Pours a rather dark brown with ruby hues and a nicely formed head even in the wide Trappist glass. Aroma is vinous with delicate hints at ripe fruits, licorice, mild clove, raisins, and light spices. Hm. This is a bit lighter on the palate than I was expecting, but in a refreshing and subtly nuanced way. Light sweetness forms the foundation for an array of fruity and spiced notes. The finish is light and pleasing with some faint rough esters coming up every now and then. I even get a bit of hop character in the form of something like wood. This is really nicely done.
