Bottle at Laura’s wedding. Hadn’t had this for years, remembered always thinking Westmalle was a bit overrated for some reason. Not sure why, this is good. Deep reddish brown, high carbonation. Strongly malty, almost bitter roasty flavours, some grain and bitter treacle if that’s possible. Definitely some booze in there. Slightly yeasty. Overall perhaps not as rounded as Chimays or sweet like Rochefort, more assertive in taste pattern, but still enjoyable.

Brown body with thick tan head. Aroma of sugar and fruits. Taste is sweet, fruity and boozy. A good beer but not the best trappist. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at BXL East. Pours ever so slightly hazy brown with a reddish tint and a massive soapy tan head. Lacing is quite thick on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, cherries, raisins, malt, yeast and some booziness. Taste is yeast-forward with notes of fruit, vanilla, raisins, and spice with a hint of hops in the finish. Great balance of all elements in this beer. Finish is suprising bright on the palate. Really, really nice.

Serving: 330 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a murky brown with a very large tan head. The nose is bright with notes of dates, yeast, a slight banana. The flavor seems a little more subdued, perhaps due to a very high level of carbonation. A little sweet up front with light yeast, toffee, and date notes and a very clean finish. Light in body as well, again due in part to all the carbonation. Solid.

Pours a brown body with a thick tan head that lingers. Initial drink tasted creamy, but due to the head. It is better as it warms. Great mouth feel. Has a little carbonation, and subtly boozy. Read some reviews to see what tastes others were getting. Was taking drinks afterwards to see if I could pick up the notes. Decided it doesn’t matter what others state. I would rather just drink it slowly and enjoy the taste. Not my favorite Trappist beer, but a darn good one at a reasonable price.

Creedence (161) - Cork, IRELAND - JUN 9, 2013
330ml bottle at Porterhouse Cork. Pours a dark ruby brown with a pillowy head. Aroma is lots of red berries, toffee, wood and a slightly metallic tinge. The taste is a big burst of boozy sweetness characteristic of the style and a light dash of bitter and sour flavours also. Quite heavy and quite fruity taste. Smooth and full-bodied, there’s nice tart (and slightly metallic) sweet finish to it. Not the best Trappist on the market, but it’s an excellent beer in its own right.

Pours rosy plum. Aroma is dark sugary dessert fruits, dates and caramel. Flavour is sweet, but a slight letdown after the awesome aroma ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
