Overall, this double is very agreable, easy to drink. Aroma of caramel malt, raisins and banana. Brown color, medium body, lively carbonation and bitter finish. This beer is medium sweet and bitter, well balanced with notes of banana and something that makes me think of almond-flavoured liqueur.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy garnet with a one finger tan head. Smells pretty great. Raisin, prune, red plum, red licorice, brown sugar, dried cherries, a very light note of pink bubblegum, light molasses, and light doughy notes. Taste wise, the red licorice notes are kind of in the forefront, with mineral notes, earthy dried dark fruits and decent bitterness that follows through the end and balances the sweetness nicely. Maple syrup, brown sugar, and a light piney note in the finish.

Smells great, dried fruit, plums, figs, some belgian spice and a hint of spicy hops. Very brown, streaming effervescence, thick brown head. Tastes great, a lot of flavor for 7%. Very malty upfront, more dried fruit, finishes with candi sugar, earthy hops and a spicy/sharp note. Medium bodied and highly carbonated. Quite good dubbel.

AROMAT: Na pierwszym planie suszone śliwki, morele, wiśnie w likierze oraz wyraźne nuty melanoidynowe, w tle zaś banany, rodzynki, ziołowość, charakterystyczne belgijskie drożdże i delikatnie alkohol. WYGLĄD: Barwa ciemno brunatna, przy dnie kieliszka rubinowa, opalizujące. Piana drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, szybko opada. SMAK: W smaku owocowe, czyli wiśnie, śliwki, morele i rodzynki.Wyraźny alkohol delikatnie kontruje słodycz suszonych owoców, jak również przyjemnie rozgrzewa. Wysokie wysycenie. Goryczka srednia, alkoholowa, zalegająca. Klasyk!

Pours reddish brown, with a light tan head. Aromas are bubble gum, banana and booze. Taste is cloyingly sweet, and barely bitter. The aftertaste ends abruptly. The mouthfeel is slightly thick and the carbonation is low.

Nice over ripe banana, belgian bready-yeast dominant aroma. Some interesting aromatic tones. Hints of dried fruit and dark malt. Fairly heavy carbonation but carries the beer beautifully. Nice medium/full palate. Banana notes in flavor , a little chamomile, bread. Malt is subtle. My only gripe is its a little metallic in the flavor. Dry finish with some soft bitterness.

In Belgium for work but severely limited in free time, I vowed to try two beers a night. This was the second night. Had it with a friend over cheese and salami at a place near Mannekin pis, out of a 750. Great aroma, smooth and chocolatey and malty. Stood perfectly in the glass under a perfect head. Outstanding smooth taste which grew more complex and satisfying. Lingered on the palate and in the nose. One of the best beers and certainly amoung the finest of the Belgians. Interestingly, I had not been so crazy about this drinking it in the States, this was a 750 bottle not a 330 and it was no doubt very fresh. Worth trying again at home!

Pours deep red to brown with some sediment. Large beige head dissipates quickly leaving loosely dispersed bubbles. Nose of bread, banana and brown sugar, soft notes of caramel and dried fruit. Lively carbonation with flavours of raisin, clove, soy sauce and subtle leather. Sweet on the tongue, then peppery. Finishes clean though with a slight alcohol bite with sherry notes on the end.

Red brown color with tall quickly disappearing tan head, coarse bubbles, aromas of ripe banana, plum, brown sugar. Second nose has notes of yeast and marzipan. Oily texture. Sweet and slightly bitter in mouth. Good balance: sweet but not overly sweet.
