Tremendous. Similar in body to St. Feuillen; spritzy but still full enough to let the flavors shine through. And the flavors!...a little raisin, plum, tart cherries. Malty, yeasty (but not too much), just a great dubbel. Incredibly rocky, off-white head that lasts and lasts.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2009 Bottled 33cl. It pours a beautiful deep amber beer with a thick, rather big remaining tanned head. Outstanding flowery aromas of ripe fruits including berries, melon, banana and peaches. Wonderful hints of wild strawberries. Some toffee and licorice in the nose. Very sweet and slightly smoky. Some woody, madeira-like elements. The flavor is very rich and sweet with reminiscent woody characteristics. Rather vinous. This beer has a pleasant bitterness. A very well balanced dubbel with a sharp and spicy taste. Lots of caramel with hints of black chocolate. The finish is bitter with some dark chocolate that comes through.. I was impressed by this dubbel! Additional comment: An excellent trappist - slightly sour. Woody and vinous. Some candied fruits showing up. Unique. Third rerate: Excellent. Huge amonts of aniseed, chocolate, pineapple, homemade caramel, candy and sage showing up in both aroma and flavor. Good bitterness. Absolutely fantastic. After several sampings: Mango does come to mind in the taste especially.

An extremely good dubbel beer. I think I like this a smidgen better than the Konings Hoeven, but not by much. The only Dubbel I like better is Chimay Red. This is a wonderfully flavorful beer with the taste of figs and plums, etc.

A very smooth to the mouth beer with a wonderfull flavour. It has such a nice dark colour with a nice head on top of it. You taste the malt that has been burned nicely. The taste is very smooth . I drink it very often.

Gigantic tan head. A very aromatic beer scent floats from the glass. Dark brown clor with a lively body. Almost a merlot taste. Very enjoyable...but almost a little to fizzy to enjoy the taste.

Pours coca-cola esque caramel with beige head that dies down pretty soon. This beer is bottle conditioned so there’s quite a bit of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Has a pungent yeast and malty aroma. Has a hugely powerful taste without being too bitter. Tastes malty at first, then settles down to a mildly bitter caramel taste which fades out becoming sweeter leaving a pleasant aftertaste that seems to linger for ages.

Quite yeasty first aroma when I cracked open the 12 oz bottle. In tulip glass boasts a one finger plush beige head on top of an unfiltered brown beer with amber hue. Aroma of dark malt and sour apple. Flavors of plum stone and mineral pucker with caramel nose. Body is moderate, hop presence not detectable (but must be because there is balance), carbonation is subdued, and there’s a dryness in finish. Consistent and complex. Body thins, malts sweeten and finish dries as it warms.

Pours Medium Brown in the Brewery’s Trappist glass with a short lasting tan head. Aroma of Spice with a smooth well balanced texture on the palate also of spice with a little hop bitterness. Not too feeling and well crafted. Dry lasting finish. Might be the best Dubbel ever created.
