Pours with a thick head to the lip of the glass that tops an inviting reddish brown. Aroma was spicy with notes of fruit. Hints of root beer matiness with plenty of fizz and notes of cherry. Nothing too overpowering with a smooth and lingering finish. Another excellent trappist beer.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Panzerfaust (462) - Hanga Roa, Easter Island, CHILE - AUG 7, 2008
Bottled at Backstage, Patio Bellavista
Pours a cloudy dark mahogany color with a huge white fluffy head that recedes slowly and leaves a marvelous lacing.
Aroma is luscious with dense malty layers and lots of fruity notes. Dried fruits, figs, nuts, prunes, caramel macchiatto coffee, clove, some molasses and blueberries. Fantastic.
Flavor is multidimensional, sweet, malty and full of surprises. Caramel, nougat, figs, grapes, green apples, chestnuts... Oh my God! What a combination! I can’t believe how great the multiple elements flow together nicely. It ends with a chocolate mousse touch.
Amazing mouthfeel, velvety, creamy, excellent. Carbonation is medium. Great aftertaste, and intense retronasal. Long finish. Right amounts of alcohol. The best dubbel I’ve ever tried.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 GG (1980) - NorCal, California, USA - FEB 2, 2006
I had the pleasure to sample this and the Westmalle Triple side by side. What an incredible brew done to excellent proportions. Aroma was incredibly complex with brown sugar, some plums, some spices in there. Appearance was nice with large tannish head. Mouthfeel was strong with a full-bodied but balanced appeal. Extremely warming, very soothing.

Poured from bottle.Dark red with a nice tan head. Wonderful aroma, can smell caramel, fruit, bread. Malty sweet taste, with just the right amount of hoppy bitterness to balance it out. Very dry but enjoyable. Medium mouthfell, just right. Excellent overall.

Very fresh and sweet scent, can find traces of apple, banana and a slight trace of orange. Taste is also fresh, delightful caramel and chocolate, mixed in a whole variaty of different fruits.
Lovely on the palate.
An excellent dubbel beer!
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 gogaterz (20) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 23, 2009
Dark brown with a reddish hue. Has a foamy cream colored head. The aroma is very complex with hints of dark chocolate, coffee, and and dates. The flavor almost matches the aroma perfedtly with the hints of dark chocolate, coffee, and dates. The alcohol rounding out the flavor and ties everything together. The finish brings out some sweetness like cream in coffee or milk chocolate mixed with the dark chocolate. A very drinkable beer and probably my favorite of the Trappist Ales.

pours a dark amber with a nice thick head. Aroma as well as taste is malt with a sweet touch of chocolate/raisin. Palate is full body, some creamy, good carb with a little chocolate bitter finish. A good trappist.
