Delicate nose with yeasty and raisiny aromas. Brown base color with a slight red tinge. Nice tan leggy head. Sweet flavor up front that is spicey, nutty and has hints of honey. There is a woody finish that is slightly dry. Nice boost of taste from the alcohol. Complex palette. Mature and well-balanced. Enjoy this best by itself.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2003 Dark amber color, creamy head. Nice aroma of malt and hop. Very good body, malty, robust bitterness; long final, not enough aromatic; a pleasure for your taste buds!

Keg
It's the only Trappist beer available in kegs (and I don't understand what's the need for that). It's good but not mature nor enough hoppy; it's a bit metallic and doesn't have enough character. [7-5-6-4-13]

looks fantastic. amazingly drinkable, almost skullable thanks to plenty of hops and rich citric fruits to balance the rotten stone fruits

This beer must be evaluated at quite a warm temp. to realize its greatness. Aroma is prunes, malt, complex. Appearance is dead on for the style, dark brown with off white head. Flavor is malt with yeast and a little bit of hops. Very good ale.

Wow! Worth every gilder or Euro. good luck finding this at Walmart. Very close to a much easier to find Chimay(Blue). The monks put out a great product.

Nice creamy, bready, malty Trappist ale. Big head but quickly diminishes (good thing as far as I’m concerned). I like this much better than the trippel.
