Bottle dated 27/03/03: Ruby brownish hue; mostly clear. About a fingers worth of foamy pale tan head. Banana, sweet, candy, fruit nose. Seductively sweet, dark fruit, cocoa, vanilla, cherry, licorice, nice body, finishing with pleasant estery goodness.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2005 Ruby-brown body with moderate carbonation and very fine particulates. Thick, rippled and very persistent frothy beige head. Aroma is malty with elements of dark fruits such as plums and poached cherries, plus dark rum, mild esters, dark candy sugar and cloves. Nice leathery flavor with a warm cherry character and elements of toffee, maple syrup and cognac. Medium organic sweetness and some stealthy bitterness. Mouthfeel screams "sugar", but is not so thin as to detract from the flavor, and creates some silky smoothness. This one grew on me with repeated samples, especially from fresh bottles. At the right moment, this beer can be downright sublime.

Dark ruby/light brown beer. Mine came bubbling violently out of the bottle and poured very effervescently. However, the head calmed down quickly. Fruity, sweet flavor. Light but very full of flavor. A nice Belgian dubble.

Poured an appetizing red-tinged brown, with a moderate off-white head. Aroma was predominately malty, with excellent fruit notes of plum and dark cherry, and a lingering note of perfume. The malty sweetness presented itself up front in the flavor, being sweet and fruity, and trailing off to a noticeable alcohol burn in the finish. Mouthfeel was nicely creamy and full, entirely appropriate for the flavors. Excellent.

pours breown with copper highlights fluffy head that fades to a thick lace. aromas of nuts, sweet malt, plums, figs cookie dough, yeast, faint orange. moderate body starting sweet with caromel and fruitness light cherry flavor, syrup balnced by orangy hops. orange lingers and slowly fades. hints at syrupy sweetness but well balanced with a fruity hop making a fruity beer to sit and think about.
