UPDATED: JUN 10, 2008 I like this beer. A dark ruby-red brown with some fine sediment and a light brown head. Aroma hits you had with sweet malt, like molasses, and some dark fruit in the background. The taste is well balanced, with a large malt backbone (a bit of chocolate) with some sweetness followed by a bit of hop bitterness and spice. Low carbonation. Not a trace of the alcohol. I could drink this all night.

Excellent!!

Bottle into chalice. Pours a a purplish-brown color, murky, with a thin, fluffy tan head that fades into a thin, creamy cap that lasts the entire beer. Nose is light dark fruits and brown sugar, with some spicy yeast lending a light, doughy character to the smell. Just a hint of spicy alcohol lends some interesting depth. Taste is intense - up front, you get a big, yeasty, doughy malt note full of dark fruit and some brown sugar, followed by a sweet, rich lingering dark fruit note that fades into a dry, slightly yeasty finish. Mouthfeel is crisp, lightly scrubbing, with a fluffy mouthfeel and medium body.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2012 Refigerated bottle served in a trappist glass. Pours brown with crimson highlights nice two finger beige head that lingers. Nice small bubble lacing. Taste is complex, dark fruit (mostly fig), some apple, some molasses and nice spice. Best dubbel that I have had.

1 year old 33cl bottle
The appearance is darkbrown with a red shine and a creamy beige to yellowish head. Very appetizing appearance!
The nose has lots of malts and fruity esters, especially ripe banana and a slight touch of anise. The taste is giganticly smooth and starts with gentle roasted malts and ripe banana and proceeds to a robust coffee flavor. It ends in a slightly bitter fruit finish with some coffee touches.
A magnificent smooth drinking beer with great balanced flavors! Can’t wait to taste the draught version!

Ooooh, just love this beer. Deep dark brown color with looong lasting large tanned head leaving great lacing on the glass. Complex aroma with raisins, fruits, spices and malts in aroma. Flavor is spicy, crisp, a bit sweet and malty, mmm. Full bodied and round on palate. Finishes a bit seet and hoppy. Enjoyable indeed.
