Strong carbonation and flavour. Residual spice, great lacing in chestnut brown. Sweet and spice. A great example of a trappist, a bit cheaper than the real westvleteren, but a good second choice. A Best Friend of a good meal. Cocoa, berries that seem and smell like wine but only a small percentage. Banana and fruit yeast smooth .

Aroma is mild yet complex, being new to rating I am having a bad time putting my finger on it. It is very pleasant. Pours rich ruby-brown with thick frothy tan head. Starts a mild bitterness, little dry, tiny bit salty. Nice balance of malts and hops. Not very sweet for a brown brew. Finish is coffee-like mild bitter, little caramel sweet. Excellent sipping beer. I have tried Westmalle’s triple and now the dubbel, I really like them both. RIght now it’s my favorite of the trappists.

Beautiful dark brown color with strong head. Rich and sweet, with very mild alcohol flavor. Very good. I’m glad the universe didn’t explode when I served this in a Chimay glass.

Cloudy dark brown with a thick pink head and a chocolate aroma. The taste a bit thin. It’s an ideal beer before going to bed .

Wow, a great dubbel style, particularly on tap! I saw it everywhere in Holland so I ignored it in favor of the rare stuff at first, but once I tried it I tended to go with it as the first beer of the evening quite often (La Chouffe is another good opening beer). Something of a unique taste that almost has a bit of sour cherry feel to it, but the beer backs off and you get more of a smooth, slightly yeasty feel instead. Medium finish, nice creamy tall head...good stuff!

Creamy, fluffy, light brown/red head.. It pours light brown, but in the glass the body becomes dark red and slightly unclear. Flavor is just great. Very sweet dark fruit, but also very dry which compensates for that. Overall very smooth drinking,,, Very nice long dry bitter finish. I had this one several times.. it is my absolute favorite for now.

A mesmerizing beer to the eyes. Deep red/brown color with a fluffy, creamy, slightly tan tinged/off white head. Lots of toast and raisons in the nose; complex spiciness. Medium creamy texture with a dry, balanced finish. Little to no hop character yet beautifully balanced and quite dry. Overall an outstanding beer--when I think of what a dubbel should be this is the beer that comes to mind.
