Svesse (1499), Hässelby, Sweden Jul 3, 2008 (Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm) Golden yellow colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, fresh, grassy nose with pears and green apples. Malty, grassy taste with fruity hints of apples. Spicy, almost metallic bitterness in a dry finish. Superbly balanced (even more so than the other Westmalle beers). Rather thin body, fairly dry. Very nice beer. gunnfryd (2664), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 22, 2008 Bottle @ Maria tasting. golden - yellow colour with a white head. Aroma is fruit, yeast, hop. Flavour is fruit, yeast, hop , spices, malt. Refreshing nice beer. yngwie (3342), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 18, 2008 Bottle, thx to fonefan. It pours a golden-yellowish body, some microfloaties, topped by a dense, white head. Rather hoppy aroma with a good fruityness, on a grainy, pale-malty background. Surprisingly hoppy and flavorful for a small trappist beer. Fruity, piney and citrusy, and quite bitter. Full to medium, rather dry mouthfeel. Long, bitter and hoppy finish. A really good one, especially considering it being one of the small trappists, still I’m having difficulties giving it a score higher than the others. Rerate wanted. (080412) darkseduction (108), Zweibrücken, Germany Jun 11, 2008 Bottle 33cl. Pours a cloudy blond coloured brew with a huge white head. Very fresh, citrus, mango, ananas and lemongrass nose. Taste first grassy like japanese green tea, light body and texture, dry hoppy but seductive finish. Belgian yeast taste, amazing spring water, an impressive composition. A masterpiece. Geiserich (1526), Vienna, Austria May 24, 2008 Bottled: Fresh, light sourly aroma with notes of citrus, straw and hops. Fresh flavor, shy fruity and intensive hop notes. Bitter hops, herbs and grass in the end. Bit empthy flavor. Medium bitter long finish. Bit unbalanced beer.
