DewBrewer (244), Austin, Texas, USA Dec 31, 2006 33cL bottle...thanks Joris!!! Light bodied, straw to golden-colored ale with a small head. The aroma has no sweetness, just some hop aroma. Nicely carbonated and the bitterness comes right through in the flavor. Quite carbonated like a champagne but quite delicious. Very dry on the palate with very little sweetness. It tastes less than 5% ABV. Great beer!
kpresley77 (61), Jackson, Georgia, USA Aug 1, 2008 Bottle courtesy of fonefan, pours hazy golden with a thick foamy white head. Aroma is yeast and pine hops. First taste is sweet malt with pretty strong carbonation. Bread and pale malt flavor is second with clean dry finish. JohnQPublic (147), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jul 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a creamy one finger white head. Aroma is a lot of grassy hops, with a hint of fruity sweetness, banana. Taste is supremely balanced, with a light biscuity malt note sitting underneath grassy hop flavor coming out early and sticking around through the clean, refreshing finish. Creamy, crisp carbonation, seems to expand in your mouth. Supremely light and drinkable. Svesse (1621), Hässelby, Sweden Jul 3, 2008 (Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm) Golden yellow colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, fresh, grassy nose with pears and green apples. Malty, grassy taste with fruity hints of apples. Spicy, almost metallic bitterness in a dry finish. Superbly balanced (even more so than the other Westmalle beers). Rather thin body, fairly dry. Very nice beer. gunnfryd (2716), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 22, 2008 Bottle @ Maria tasting. golden - yellow colour with a white head. Aroma is fruit, yeast, hop. Flavour is fruit, yeast, hop , spices, malt. Refreshing nice beer. yngwie (3394), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 18, 2008 Bottle, thx to fonefan. It pours a golden-yellowish body, some microfloaties, topped by a dense, white head. Rather hoppy aroma with a good fruityness, on a grainy, pale-malty background. Surprisingly hoppy and flavorful for a small trappist beer. Fruity, piney and citrusy, and quite bitter. Full to medium, rather dry mouthfeel. Long, bitter and hoppy finish. A really good one, especially considering it being one of the small trappists, still I’m having difficulties giving it a score higher than the others. Rerate wanted. (080412)
