Bottle from drankenhandel Verheyen in Poppel. The beer yellow color and a rich white head, with a lot of bubbles in the beer. The aroma is very hoppy and malty, with in the background a sweetness of fruits like green apples and bananas. The taste starts light sweet (a little alcohol and liqorice), and the sweetness is long noticable. Very full and rich taste. The finish is surprisingly dry, is long and very nicely bitter. A very nice belgian Ale, which is easy to drink. I enjoyed it.

(Westmalle Extra) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a small trappist glass, ABV 4.8% Clear body, golden yellow in colour, with a small and somewhat thin, white head on top, with average retention, leaving a thin film of foam covering the beer’s surface, plus some light lacing around the glass. Sweet and malty aroma, with plenty of sugars and peaches, with apricot following, along with light floral notes. Taste is also sweet, again lots of peaches, syrup, sugar, light perfume. Medium thin body, average carbonation. Good belgian ale, surprisingly good for such a low alcohol one.

TET (1756) - FINLAND - NOV 22, 2014
A light yellow beer with a big and white head. The nose is aromatic and quite unique, lemon, lots of flowers, apples and apple cider. Taste has lot of apples, grain, nice spicyness with some coriander. No change with yeast. Medium bodied, smooth and strong carbonation. Strong apples, fresh and good, light trappist.

blackisle (856) - IJburg, NETHERLANDS - NOV 7, 2014
Bottle 33cl. Hazy pale golden color, thick creamy stable white head, recedes only slowly but thick layer remains, good lacing; aroma wheat, yeast, fruity (peach, banana), citrus; taste moderate bitter, light sweet; medium body, oily to watery texture, average carbonation; finish lingering dry bitter, herbal notes. Very pleasant pale ale.

The ’refterbier’ or ’enkel’ from the Westmalle monks, made for their own use inside the abbey and only sold to the outside world in very limited quantities and only on Fridays; used to lack a label and had all the information only on the cap, like the Westvleteren ales, but since the limited sales at the abbey have begun, a beige label has been added. Loose but stable, off-white head, peach blonde colour perhaps a tad lighter than the tripel, cloudy with deposit. Fruity and malty aroma of pear, red apple, pineapple, grains, mild herbal hoppiness, yeast; fruity taste, light sweetishness, soft and fluffy, bready maltiness in the middle, a bit grainy, thinnish body, soft herbal hop bitterness in the finish, long. Everyone I know who tasted this, comes to the same conclusion: this is a great session blonde, a kind of ’little’ version of the great Tripel as it were, with a whole lot of taste and character for a beer of only 4% ABV. It’s a shame this isn’t commercialized more broadly...

330ml bottle served in a tumbler glass. Best before 10/12/2014. A: Pours a dark yellow to beige color. Very cloudy. Forms a huge bubbled, creamy and soapy head with huge retention and tons of lacings formed and left in the glass S: Quite malty and nutty. Very fruity as well, notes of date fruit and banana. Notes of toffee and spices. Great flowery hops. Bready yeasts in the end T: Slightly sweet pale malts in upfront. Quickly becomes dry, malty and crispy. Quite fruity and spicy. Strong notes of date fruit, banana and nuts. Medium bitterness. Bready Belgian yeasts in the end M: Light to medium body. Good carbonation. Malty and bready aftertaste O: Very pleasant and drinkable. Sweet and fruity in the nose but dry and crispy in the mouth. Balanced and smooth bitterness. Excellent quality Belgian Pale Ale [ BA Review @ 2/19/2014 ]

330ml bottle from Belgian Beer Factory. Pours hazy gold with a patch of bubbly creamy head in the middle of the glass. Taste is nicely sweet sessionable Belgian blond with a hint of spice and light fruitiness. Has a familiar Westmalle yeastiness to it.

Bottle @ Oud Arsenaal Antwerpen. Yellow hazy ogre shine. Very carbonated, lots of yeast aroma’s: white bread, dough. Bitter taste, long finish. Refreshing!
