| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 13, 2009 Bottle. Golden, off-white frothy head a few specks of yeast sitting on top of the clouds. Like chimay white there’s a nice dried fuits aroma, a little bitter-er and drier in the finish. It is spicy and strong like the description states, but also slightly sweet in the back of the mouth. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2009 Pours a hazy yellow-gold with white bubbly head. Aromas are floral with herbal spice, citrus, and alcohol. Flavors are sweet citrus upfront, followed by strong spiciness (clove and i dunno something strong used in cooking-can’t pin point it). Alcohol comes through alittle strong and dries everything off but the spice lingers. Very complex! needs the right food i think DigitalMan (113), Idaho, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 7, 2009 Most over the top carbonation I’ve ever seen. Almost 10 minutes before the head settled enough to take a drink. Pale, hazy, cloudy yellow. Hint of spice in the aroma. Alcohol comes across very strong, negatively impacting the nice tripel flavor. mesperon (134), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 4, 2009 Slightly hazy amber with frothy white head. Lively ripe fruit aroma. Sweet and slightly tart up front. Develops into well balanced malt. Then very tart and biter bite, hops and apple peel taste, bite fades into the finsh. PolishHammer (64), , Connecticut, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2009 A nice tripel, but more acidic and spicy than I prefer...as a result, I think I prefer Chimay, but I need to try a few more trappist tripels. Color typical yellow-orange and hazy. Lemongrass aroma, taste follows with a bit of grain, cereal, honey, and a tad medicinal. A licorice type of burn on the finish. Overall, a nice complex tripel that I definitely enjoyed. No way this drinks like a 9.5%..well spiced, not too sweet. Go monks! mcdav2154 (297), Germany
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 2, 2009 .33l bottle. Poured a nice hazy yellow and the head on this beer made me blush!! For the smell and taste, once again I had to go to the wife’s spice rack to figure this one out. Cardamom was pretty close and bitter citrus was prevalent. The aftertaste was very bitter like a grapefruit and burned a bit like it too. Not really a huge fan but I’m glad I tried it. Not an every week drink but likeable and I’ll drink it again.
