I like this one less than the Dubblel but better than the quad. Sten (288), Westerlo, Belgium

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Not my favorite of the Belgium Tripels, but obviously one of the better beers in the world. A little too much alcohol in the finish for me, but a wonderful aroma and dry and spicy upfront with a nice spicy undertone. Listigovers (101), Ontario, Canada

Heavily carbonated, very little alcohol presence despite the 9.5%. Very large head, smooth, soft mouthfeel. Dry aftertaste. Very spicy aroma and flavour. Tingles your entire mouth. Wonderful offering. jacare (21), Hinsdale, Illinois, USA
| 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Jun 21, 2009 I’ll start out with the fact I took a couple of sips and did a sink pour on this one.
Sour and awful. I don’t get it. Then I took the rest of the bomber and tossed it out.
Then I drank a Hoegaarden to get the awful taste out of my mouth. oteyj (724), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Honey pour with a beautiful head that forms a mountain of frothy goodness. Aroma is loaded with sharp citrus and spices. Clove, grapefruit, and a very defined and unique yeast character provide for an enjoyable sniff. Flavor is citrus to the max with excellent yeasty spice character that lasts nicely through the finish. Citrus is multi faceted and expertly balanced. Palate is full for the style, ending clean and very dry. A very well put together creation. fidelis83 (712), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jun 19, 2009 Pours a milky honey with a 2 finger (in a chalice) eggshell head that has great retention and leaves a few specks of lacing. Aroma is Sweet grainy malt, lots of grassy hops, yeasty bread - fresh from the oven, some citrus(mostly lemon), a little banana, clove and ginger, some black pepper and some ethanol. Flavor is lots of yeasty bread, I mean lots and lots, grass, cardamom, corriander, light caramel, light wheat bread, tree fruit, fruity and herbal glycerine soap, acidic citrus, passion fruit, cucumber, peppery yeast, perfume hops and artificial strawberry flavored hard candy. Finish is fruity, peppery, yeasty bread(y) and a bit of ethanol. Palate is medium body highly carbonated and has a syrupy entry that quickly transitions to a dry alcoholic finish. Good stuff overall, nice and complex, but not really that impressive. Mutualaid (136), Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 19, 2009 Poured into a Westmalle chalice; blond with a good bit of haze; foamy head that lacks much retention. Aroma is of lemon, bitter orange and something else, perhaps bergamot? Dry, almost aggressively spicy flavor up front, followed by a fruit (pear?) esters in the middle, and a nice clean finish. Easily the most drinkable Tripel I’ve had.
