Bought to drink on a relaxed Saturday night doing absolutely nothing. I had high expectations of this beer, and my exp. were met indeed. It has a hazy yellow-to-orange body with a thick white head. Citrus dominates the smell, but I immedialtely thought about champagne. Tastes of fruits, especially orange and peach, but also banana. I also detect some honey which I found very interesting and added much to the overall impression. In terms of alcohol, it does not taste as strong as it says (9.5% - beware!:). Dry finish, but still sweet like candy. I enjoyed this one! Damn, wish I bought one more...

Poured from a bottle into a tiny plastic stein at Brew Fest in Athens, GA. This straw-colored liquid raised a mighty head and gave off aromas of pear, green apple, and straw. Flavors followed suit, but with the straw coming on strong in the finish to impart a long dry ending that evoked a fine saison. These Belgian monks seem to know what they’re doing.

Bottiglia - De Shutter Pub - Amsterdam.

Deep orange with a spitty white head that takes some time to take its true shape. Nose is apricot, peach, metal, grass, sweet citrus, honey. Flavor is super dry with more fruit, citrus, and spice. Finishes slightly boozy and chalky. This is the opposite of what most American brewers interpretations of the Belgian Tripel style turn out like, so, so dry without even a hint of cloying sweetness. Pretty amazing tripel that deserves its high stature.

toast, resin, bread, golden, hazy, minimal head, light sweetness, medium bitterness, full body, creamy, lively, long finish, outstanding beer that met all the hype I’ve heard about it. Well worth the trip to Belgium.

bottle; hazy golden with large white head; aroma-yeast, mild citrus; taste- mild sweetness, heavy carbonation and mild bitterness. It has a rich mouth feel, strong alcohol. Hard to beat
