17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 26, 2008 Orange/yellow pour with some big bubbles and a great creamy thick off-white head. Lots of yeast and some orange zest in the aroma. Sugary and robust, orange peel bitter, tangy yeast. Somewhat one-dimensional for a triple, odd woody burnt bitter aftertaste. Tastes like theres some potato vodka in it, the alcohol is showing through. Palate is really nice, its completely different, has a whipped texture to it. stef7321 (15), Williamsburg, Virginia, USA Jan 23, 2008 I thought this was pretty good. Golden brown with tons of sediment and a 2 finger head. A nice bouquet and light, drinkable flavour with a slightly bitter finish. Nice spice and mouth feel. johndavidj99 (123), Township, Maine, USA Jan 20, 2008 Updated: Mar 1, 2008GIANT sudsy/creamy white head! Yeasty orange aroma with hints of spices. Sweet flavor with presence of yeast and orange peel. The finish is dry and woody. The alcohol is evident in the taste. Pretty smooth and palatable as well. Not bad for an orange Tripel. Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Jan 19, 2008 Yummy, yum, yum. Poured froma bottle into a trapisst. A dark pour and mine had little head. The aroma was roasty and the setup was great. The beer while one of the best was not the best. A very tasty after taste and just a plain out enjoyable beer. i wish I could afford one everyday. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jan 19, 2008 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with small yeast sediments and a huge white head. Spiced, slight acidic and yeasty aroma. Flavour is the pure definition of a tripel. Smooth, spiced, slight acidic note, mild caramel malt and that yummy mellow Westmalle yeast note. All in a complex yet smooth blend - with a light bite towards the finish, just telling you that this is a 9.5% alcohol beer. Fantastic. milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Jan 18, 2008 Updated: Feb 16, 2009I enjoyed this beer more than the Dubbel. Slightly weak in the nose...some sweetness/fruitiness, but nothing too prevalent. The flavor is good...slightly spicy, followed by the typical Belgian candy sugar, finished with some citrus undertones. Nice alcohol warming. Overall a decent Tripel. Ansset13 (127), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Jan 17, 2008 An interesting trappist brew. The Nose presented hints of honey, coriander, yeast, and alcohol. The flavor is initially honey and sugars, followed by mellow citrus tones, and finished with just a slight alcohol warming. Good, but not my favorite trappist. ejdischer (11), Cromwell, Connecticut, USA Jan 17, 2008 An amazing beer. The story I like to tell about Westmalle Tripel is that the day I drank it, I left my glass on the end table in the living room. The next day, when I came downstairs, the lacey head had turned into almost a foam running down the glass. Amazing. Spicy, yet not overpowering. Hints of orange and coriander. Would love to drink more but at $5 a bottle, it’s kind of tough. Maybe the best beer I’ve ever had though.
