An amazing beer. The story I like to tell about Westmalle Tripel is that the day I drank it, I left my glass on the end table in the living room. The next day, when I came downstairs, the lacey head had turned into almost a foam running down the glass. Amazing. Spicy, yet not overpowering. Hints of orange and coriander. Would love to drink more but at $5 a bottle, it’s kind of tough. Maybe the best beer I’ve ever had though.

Best Before End: 24-July-2004, Sampled: 19-November-2005
Great orange coloured body, slightly amber tinted with tons of suspended particles and a great slightly off-white head that tops the beer perfectly! Aroma of wheat, yeast, coriander seed, curacao, a light spice and packed with sugars. Full-bodied; Strong alcoholic taste with yeast and wheat most noticeable. The sugars pack the beer nicely and some honey and other pit fruits seem to come up toward the end. Aftertaste shows some bitterness, but most is sweet and a bit spicey. Overall, this is a pretty good tripel for the style - definitely worth trying. I wonder what this did by aging it, but it seems to be pretty rounded and not harsh in any dimension. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia about 2 years ago, sampled on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 19-November-2005.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a 3 cm foamy off white head that is mostly lasting. Aroma of bread, fruit, and spices. Flavor is initially sweet and fruity, mostly pear and apples. Aftertaste is a hint of spice , bananas, and a hint of alcohol. Medium bodied, noted carbonation, great lacing, and nice level of alcohol. More drinkable than the dubbel and worth a try. A top Trappist pick.

pour is a hazy golden-orange with a large bubbly white head, good lacing, much carbonation. smell of fruit, pepper, spice, bread dough, alcohol. taste is thick, fizzy, apple, pear, grape, alcohol, end is dry and bitter. everything is quite balance, nothing overpowers the flavor.

Golden-orange hazy beer with a big sudsy white head, leaves lacing. Aroma is spicy alcohol, light fruit/floral and yeast. Flavor is spicy, maybe some pear? and of course alcohol, but not overpowering. Finishes like a dry white wine. Reminds me of champagne more than any beer I’ve had.

Pours a hazy golden color with a great creamy head and a touch of lacing. Aroma of bananas, citrus and yeast. Flavor is more of the same, with a touch of sweetness, and a bit of a long aftertaste. Nice creamy medium palate. A wonderful beer.

Bold, spicy aroma, big lingering head, sharply carnonated. Big, thick mouthfeel, A bit of alcohol heat, but good balance of sweetness/biterness.

big fruity flavor. Banana, apple and pear. Bready and sweet, with a candy-like quality. Somewhat spicy. Thick mouthfeel, but smooth palate. Carbonation keeps it lively. A little floral and perfumey. Damn good beer.
