iamandrewgill (12), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 22, 2007 More hop than I expected. Complex and spicy, nice finish (though sharp and a bit bitter). JFGrind (1346), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 22, 2007 750 ml bottle; golden unfiltered body, thick cream foam top, and a spicy flavor. Overall a solid Belgian Tripel, but I agree with other raters, the alcohol is much morte evident as the Tripel warms. Meatwad (26), New York, New York, USA Dec 19, 2007 Spicy, gracy, hoppy taste, light palate . It’s like a wheatbeer. I liked it. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Dec 19, 2007 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Golden yellow colour with lasting, frothy, white head. Fruity, spicy nose with dried apricots, orange peel and slightly spicy, metallic notes. Fruity, spicy taste with apricots, citrus, herbs (thyme?) and slightly metallic undertones with distinct fiery notes in a long, warming finish with alcohol shining through. Not really balanced, but still nice and with lots of personality. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 15, 2007 750 mL bottle. Poured hazy gold with fizzy white head. Mild lacing. Yeasty nose. Finished spicy with evident warming alcohol. craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Dec 14, 2007 Updated: Jun 7, 2009bottle. pours a deep golden with a huge thick white head... very spicy on the tip and back of the tongue. nice medium body with a sense of airiness to it. aromas of citrus, belgian yeast and spice. medium body with a strong presence... yeast driven flavor and feel throughout. citrus, spice dominate the mouth as well. one of the best examples of an Abbey Tripel. Chapel (327), Levittown, New York, USA Dec 14, 2007 Pours a cloudy golden. Aroma is strongly yeasty. Flavor is yeast and light malts up front with a bit of spice/pepper in the finish. Hops are also subtle in comparison to the yeast. Slightly dry finish. Overall, seems more yeasty than I would have expected. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Dec 13, 2007 Extremely crisp tripel, with a dry straw-like finish. A light orange pour, with very fine lacing and solid retention. Nice flavors of spice and subtle malts (which thankfully don’t get in the way), with citrus notes and a bit of pepper in the finish. Bitter but still quite warming, an excellent Trappist ale.
