BossHossBikes (147), Tennessee, USA Nov 17, 2007 Bottle thanks to NachlamSie. Blind tripel tasting with Allagash Tripel Reserve, Tripel Karmeliet, and Chimay Cinq Cents with NachlamSie and Muenster. This brew poured a cloudy gold with a pale head. The aroma was spicy and citrusy such as a pear. The aroma travels through the nose and down the throat creating a warming sensation and a strange tang. As the brew hit the tongue, caramel and honey sweetness as well as a pear citrus becomes very dominant. Spiciness creeps up a little as the brew passes the tongue. The citrus and sweetness overcomes the spice quickly after and continues, delicately intertwined, in the finish. This was very enjoyable and came in second in the tasting. riversideAK (2650), Shoreline, Washington, USA Nov 16, 2007 Fruity and spicy aroma with lots of noticable yeast. Pours hazy yellowish. Flavor is nice and sweet. Fruits like apricot, orange, and lemons make an appearance with nice yeasty spiceyness and a little bit of alcohol. Pretty damn easy to drink for how big it really is. This could get me in trouble. sinkas (182), Perth/Fremantle, Australia Nov 16, 2007 Nose is a dusty and yeasty somehow reminiscent of faint smell of vanilla shortbread dusted with icing sugar, appearance is slightly hazey pale straw, Palate is paradoxically dry yet with a true edge of sweetness, and actual perceptable hop bitterness. Bring me another! portermax55 (118), Canterbury, Connecticut, USA Nov 16, 2007 11.2oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a medium white head and tons of carbonation. Heavy aromas of yeast and wheat with hints of lemon and orange. Flavor is of sour hops, lemon, and yeast with a slight spicey finish. Mouthfeel is very light and velvety. Great stuff. truebluehes (104), Tipton, Iowa, USA Nov 14, 2007 Bottle. Hazy orange with a large white head. Aroma is spicy, notes of yeast and orange. Flavor is sweet and quite spicy and a little woody. Nice finish of alcohol. mullet2007 (198), St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada Nov 14, 2007 Pours a faintly hazy golden straw color, with a nice thick creamy looking head. Smells of raisins and maybe some other fruitiness, with a hint of alcohol and some spiciness. It’s very fruity with some amount of residual sweetness. Finish is spicy and fruity at the same time. It doesn’t taste anywhere near as alcoholic as it smells. It has a big raisin taste. It’s actually really nice. If all tripels are like this, I may have found a new favorite style. There’s a slight hint of sourness in the finish somewhere maybe? Carbonation is low perhaps to medium, and mouthfeel is mediumish. As it warms up, spiciness and alcohol become more apparent, as does slight hop bitterness. It tastes a little like a lighter version of a barleywine. JdKrone (16), West Caldwell, New Jersey, USA Nov 13, 2007 served in a glass with bottle at Irish Tunes, in Roeselare, Belgium. Nice vibrant goldeny orange color with a huge white creamy..turning frothy head that stayed til the bottom. It has a spicy and herbal somewhat raisiny aroma. I could hint maybe plums peaches strawberries. Nice dry full flavored brew that doesn’t pack as big of a punch as others of its alc content. Call me crazy but this is one brew that I felt I got hints of marijuana from. Could just been my fingers? Great finish, great light aftertaste! Prcaus (159), New Jersey, USA Nov 12, 2007 Bottle from Discount Liquors in Voorhees, NJ-Pours a cloudy golden/ brown with herbal/ spiced aromas with some fruits. Very enjoyable and finishes well.
