COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong, dry and spicy trappist ale. The product of a secondary fermentation lasting 5 weeks. This is a complex ale with a fruity aroma and a nice nuanced hop scent. It is soft and creamy in the mouth, with a bitter touch carried by the fruity aroma. An exceptional ale, with a great deal of finesse and elegance, and with a splendid long after taste.

Beautifull golden color with a slight double shine in the appropriate glass. A dense white rocky head reavals the spicy fruity esters in the aroma. Light in body with a slightly sharp metallic character simular to a finely aged sharp Gouda. Extremely well balanced malt to bitter quality for an exceptional overall finish.

Aroma: Banana, quince, phenols, some bread, light alcohol. Appearance: Clear golden with strange sediment floating, head ugly, quickly falls down. Taste: Not very intensive, alcoholic, sweet, phenolic, some fuit like old banana, peach, strawberry, sugar sweetness, some herbal hops notes, bit abstringent. Palate: Finish is abstringent and semi-sweet, carbonation high, body medium.

pitch992 (83) - SLOVENIA - MAY 23, 2016
Aroma: well balanced, not overly prominent. gentle banana esters, some spice from phenols, gentle hoppy spiciness. golden- slightly orange. clear with some particulates, white head, minimal, average retention. light sweetness, light bitterness, same taste as in aroma but with some added caramel and dough taste that adds a nice layer to the beer. light body, slick feel, lively, fluffy, gentle smooth finish, medium dryness. overall: interesting, well balanced, hides its alcohol amazingly, but not that exceptional as it is portrayed. Could be a slightly bigger on the aromatics and taste.

330 mL bottle shared by ebone1988 for this stupid fucking book. I wish there were good beers in it. The pour is a bright golden orange with a thicker pure white head that falls to a thin film leaving some decent lace. The aroma is all banana and clove. Great. Everything I hate about Belgian beers. This is bound to be a dandy. There is a little bready malt present, but this is just going to suck. The flavor is terrible. There is a strong sharpness of banana and clove. It’s sharp and cloying. There is a hefty permanent marker that really hammers this home that I hate it. The mouth feel is thicker and strongly carbonated with a cloyingly terrible banana, clove, and horse shit aftertaste. This is just not good. Fucking book.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2016 Damn book. Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is tropical fruit, banana, clove, booze, standard tripel. Appearance is darker golden, white head, slightly hazy. Taste is banana, clove, booze, spice, permanent marker, harsh, unpleasant, other synonyms. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, booze and dank banana aftertaste. Overall, damn book. I thought my palate could have conformed to this style by now, but nope.

Strong malt, bitterness, caramel, rich yet smooth and very enjoyable. Can’t really taste the high alcohol content. I like

Pours beautifully with billowy white head and lacing. aroma of banana and spice with a touch of citrus. flavor follows aroma with dry alcohol spiced finish. Spicier than I remember it. Prickly carbonation. Brighter and more complex than I just described.

Bouteille 33 cl - couleur dorée trouble, odeur très complexe à identifier, portant sur le houblon, goût: fruité, amertume sur l’alcool et sur un goût floral

27/IV/16 - 33cl bottle @ Verdronken Land (Gent) - BB: n/a (2016-447)

Note: well, finally. This is one of those beers I’ve been procrastinating for years, and often when I had one, I didn’t have my notebook with me, the conditions weren’t optimal for rating (going out at night, e.g.), or I just didn’t feel like it, and I put it off, knowing there’d always be a next time I’d be drinking this. Well there, after more than 6 years of rating beer, I finally did the Westmalle Tripel. :p

Clear dark blond to orange beer, thick creamy off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet, ripe banana, bit spicy, coriander touch. MF: lively carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sweet in the start, ripe banana, yeasty, bit sugary, spicy notes. Aftertaste: pretty bitter and dry, still some sweetness lingering through though, some alcohol. With right and reason the mother of all Belgian (and international) Tripels.

Unclear light orange gold. Lasting frothy white head. Yeasty. Banana. Dark fruit. Caramel. Bready crust. Peppery/spicy. Alcohol. A lighter full, soft body makes for a satisfying and easy drinking experience.
