Enjoyed this in bottle in Cafe Vertigo in Amsterdam for after-work drinks. What a wonderful blast. This Trapist is very strong on the alochol, not too sweet and healthy proportion.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2007 330 ml bottle, best before 09-05-2002. Pours a cloudy orangey amber color with a thin white head. Warm alcohol aroma with coriander and moldy yeast. With aging this beer becomes very smooth, gentle, subtle, I taste coriander, yeast and alcohol, the flavors are less prominent than the flavors of a younger Westmalle tripel but what it lost on flavor it gained immensely in palate. Full body, very mellow, smooth, comfortable texture, it’s a soft bed for the tastebuds. This beer always amazes me as it ages incredibly well.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2005 A major disappointment, and the worst Trappist beer I have tasted. Very light fruit and malt aroma. Yellow, with a very large white head. Lacking in flavor, especially compared to Karmeliet. This is like a plain Belgian ale; reminds me of the unimpressive Unibroue ’04 with a simple malt and alcohol flavor combination. At least the price was marked ridiculously low by mistake, but I won’t look for this again. 750 bottle.

An orangolden pour with an aroma of coriander, spice, and fruitiness that reminds me of a dry white wine. A very dry fruitish flavor not much yeast but a very well hidden 9.5alc that makes this a really good warm beer. I was afraid it would be hot but its not. I really like a warm abv beer. This beer has a first out sweet but quickly jumps to dry and fizzy as the style dictates. I like this little 12oz baby. An all round tripel.

(BJCP Class) This beer came with its own press agent. So I will leave that aside and judge for myself. Golden color cloudy with a nice head. Strong fruit aroma slight malt character. Strong in alcohol. Very sweet in taste good balance of flavors. Has a great dry finish and seems to still come off tasting very light. IMHO: This was a very good beer.

12 oz bottle, via Zathrus13. Pours a mostly clear yellow gold with a slight fine yeast haze under a one finger fizzy and foamy white head that fell to a thin covering. Aroma is the gold standard for an Abbey Triple I suppose. Heavy thick pale malt with some yeast, alcohol, fruitiness, spices, and dough. Flavor is floral and fruity with some hefty alcohol up front. Finishes quite dry with lots of spiciness. A little too much alcohol apparency for me, but I find that with alot of Tripels. Mouthfeel is very spritzy despite the heavy thick maltiness, finishing quite a bit drier than many Tripels. This may be the standard, but it’s the standard in a style that I think may be one of my least favorite.

Best Before End: 24-July-2004, Sampled: 19-November-2005
Great orange coloured body, slightly amber tinted with tons of suspended particles and a great slightly off-white head that tops the beer perfectly! Aroma of wheat, yeast, coriander seed, curacao, a light spice and packed with sugars. Full-bodied; Strong alcoholic taste with yeast and wheat most noticeable. The sugars pack the beer nicely and some honey and other pit fruits seem to come up toward the end. Aftertaste shows some bitterness, but most is sweet and a bit spicey. Overall, this is a pretty good tripel for the style - definitely worth trying. I wonder what this did by aging it, but it seems to be pretty rounded and not harsh in any dimension. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia about 2 years ago, sampled on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 19-November-2005.
