COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong, dry and spicy trappist ale. The product of a secondary fermentation lasting 5 weeks. This is a complex ale with a fruity aroma and a nice nuanced hop scent. It is soft and creamy in the mouth, with a bitter touch carried by the fruity aroma. An exceptional ale, with a great deal of finesse and elegance, and with a splendid long after taste.

An amazing beer. The story I like to tell about Westmalle Tripel is that the day I drank it, I left my glass on the end table in the living room. The next day, when I came downstairs, the lacey head had turned into almost a foam running down the glass. Amazing. Spicy, yet not overpowering. Hints of orange and coriander. Would love to drink more but at $5 a bottle, it’s kind of tough. Maybe the best beer I’ve ever had though.

Bottiglia da 33cl. Di un colore dorato chiaro e trasparente, bella schiuma spumeggiante e non troppo persistente. Ottimo aroma fruttato come al palato.

Look; off white top, clear strawy golden body, some lacing. Aroma; juicy fruits, yeast, potato peel, caramel notes. Taste; hops, barley, grains, juicy yeast, hops - finish is yeasty hoppy grainy. Feels normal strong. Overall a barley shot. [33cl btl 9.5%abv, BB25.08.17 #3725]

Copenhagen 7/2 2016. 33 cl bottle from Meny. Pours hazy golden yellow with frothy white head. Settles as 1,5 cm thick layer of foam. Fruity aroma dominated by citrus and banana. Belgian yeast coming through as well. Medium carbonation and oily palate. Taste follows the nose. Sweet banana, black pepper, citrus, yeast and good long lasting bitterness lingering in the aftertaste. Hides the high alcohol content very well. A fine specimen. I wish I bought a bigger bottle. But then I would probably have been half drunk by now.

Admittedly, I screwed up and got this instead of the dubbel next to it, so it was a surprise when I poured it. It was a cloudy golden straw color with a thick, somewhat-soapy head. Not getting a strong distinguishable scent out of it. A bit of spice and sweet - but nothing I can exactly point out. There is a bit of spiciness and pepper in the taste, some sweetness to it too. Even with the carbonation, had a creamy mouthfeel. It is a pretty good beer, but was a bit underwhelmed. Might be due to me wanting (and expecting a dubbel), so will try it again. I prefer the Chimay

Floral, citrus, golden, rocky head, refreshing and sweet with a bitter final, medium body, lively...the first tripel, nothing else to say.

Goede tripel. Mooie kleur, volle schuimkraag, frisse geur, karakteristieke bittere smaak.

33cl bottle, served in Trappist chalice. Poured a cloudy golden yellow with a 3 finger white head. Aromas of caramel, vanilla, banana, cloves. Taste a continuation of the aromas, very sweet spicy, fruity mouthfeel. Medium body with a creamy bittersweet banana finish. Very good!

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours light gold with a creamy white head. Aromas of apricot, banana and citrus with floral notes. Taste is nicely balanced between the bitter fruit and spicyness and the soft sweetness from the pale candy sugar used in brewing. A very generous beer with a long finish.

Slightly cloudy straw colored pour with thin, but lasting white foam top. I bought two bottles, so hoping the other is different. Lots of pepper dominates the aroma. in there somewhere is some banana and bubblegum, but pepper and/or clove overwhelms. Flavor is unfortunately very similar. Hard to discern the subleties, but there is some malt sweetness. Finishes with a bite from the pepper.
