pours hazy yellow with a lasting white head and lots of lacing. aroma has notes of lemon, yeast and coriander with an overall soapiness. taste is complex with bitter sweet citrus (lemon primarily), coriander, soap, some herbs, and more hop presence than one would expect from a trappist ale. finish is dry. a fine tripel, well balanced and warming. the high abv is well hidden.

330 ml bottle. Poored in a trappist glass, hazy orange with a cotton head. Aroma is pear, nuts, grape fruits. First sip is extremely delightful, with a caramel taste, a slight bitter near the end. At first it’s fruity and then it becomes spicy and changes to a roasty and bittery taste, but Texture is oily, feels light considering the alcohol level. The complexity is here, fantastic and delicious beer!

Westmalle Tripel has a thin, white head and a hazy, bubbly, yellow-gold appearance, with a few tiny, white specks suspended throughout. The aroma is of full, strong, pungent, sweet bread, with a slight sourness. Taste is of stinging yeast, peppery, banana, sweet bread, a good amount of harsh bitterness, and sugar. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and one really does pick up the alcohol with this- think brandy. Westmalle Tripel finishes mostly dry, biting, and wonderful. A challenging, outstanding beer. RJT

Bottle. Pours golden, sparkling liquid with stable white head. Aroma is very fruity, namely grapes, pears, apples. Also some bread and hay. Taste starts on honey-like sweetness and continues into very pleasure bitter spices with very alcoholic background. Beer has full body with oily texture. Average carbonation with long dry and spicy finish. Very complex piece from aroma and taste side, memorable experience.

750ml served into a Karmeliet tulip Bottled on 25/08/13 A - Pours honey golden with sediment floating around. Giant 3 finger head that’s bone-white in color and is very slow to sink and never dies completely. Chunks of 3D lacing around the top of the glass. S - Tangy fruity esters. Pears, apples, grapes, taffy, wheat bread, damp hay, banana liquor, pepper, various unknown spices. T - Spiced yeast, pears, tangy taffy, acidic and grapes, muted stone fruit. It grows spicier toward the middle with pepper and coriander. Thick pilsener malt, grassy with a citrus bite toward the end. Finishes spicy and dry. M - Moderate prickly carbonation, heavy side of medium, alcohol is evident but welcomed, dry finish. Super complex nose. The flavor is is very layered as well but does not match the nose. I know it sounds cliche, but complex is the main word to describe this beer. Serving type: bottle 05-12-2012

Bottle. Bes before date of May ’14. Drank June ’13. Pours with a huge lasting rocky white head and leaves good lace. Very clear with lively bubbles. The aroma is not so strong but is soft light grain, a little dusty yeast with the slightest funk, not ripe pears, light spice. The flavor is very dry and bitter with a long bitter clean finish. The fruits and spices and light sweetness are not dominat but in good balance. The alcohol isn’t while there isn’t heavy or intrusive. A phenomenal and highly drinkable big beer. Just perfect.

Color beetwen yellow and orange with a lots of yeasts elements. Medium fluffy head, but quickly disappearing. Aroma of yeasty banana and fruity esters with alcohol on background. Taste is malty and spicy. After that appears dry notes. Nice body. Decent trappist beer.
