Sweet, golden fruit nose, lots of honey. Taste is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, lots of honey, some herbal hops, lots of cotton candy.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I poured an 11.2oz bottle into an oversize wine glass
Appearance: Dark copper/orange with much carbonation. Forms a two-finger, off-white, frothy head. Good retention and lacing.
Smell: Quite hoppy with floral and slight citrus notes. Typical Belgian yeast esters are also strong in the palate with some spices notable as well.
Taste: Hard to describe other than a very strong saison or witbier. Thick palate with lemony citrus tartness and mild dry spices throughout. Could be black pepper, could be coriander - Iím not quite sure. Alcohol imparts a homogenous dryness throughout the palate. Somewhat bitter while itís in the mouth, but finishes mostly clean with just slight dryness from the yeast (typical with Belgian beers of this caliber). Tasty palate to be sure, but not a very complex or robust one. Iíd prefer something more overtly fruity, but this is good.
Drinkability: Mouthfeel is thick and despite peppery, spicy flavors, the beer itself does not dance on my tongue but seems to hit it with a thud. Slightly drying, but very easily tolerated. Does not taste or feel as heavy as its 8% ABV would have you believe. Quite smooth, actually, although there is significant heat in the throat as it warms.
Overall, a good Belgian beer but nothing to jump for joy over.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at ACBF 2011. Cloudy gold pour with a foamy head. Mild grain and yeast on the nose. Flavor is quite sweet, plenty of caramel and demerera sugar. Medium in body with fine to average carbonation. Sugary finish, lots of malts. Very decent.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl bottle from Cracked Kettle. Orange/amber color, with big almost white head, shrinking to a small blanket. Smells like a (sweet) fruity triple: apple, peach, with some spiciness. Flavor is not as sweet as you would expect from the aromaís but slightly so, malty sweetish, with hints of spices & bitterness. Maltiness develops, then a dry, fairly bitter finish. Good & solid Belgian triple (or whatever).

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly darker orange beer then the 6% version. The smell is more malty/grainy, also very herbal. The same thing that is a bit metallic comes up at this one. Good sized head, holds decent. A bit more puwerfull taste, slightly sweet-bitter, malts, herbs, and the yeast gets his way trough also. I prefer this one slighty above the Westoek X. A bit more power behind the taste.

Off-white head. Smell of hops, citrus and coriander. Sweet taste in the beginning. Quite dry aftertaste. Expected more but a good brew.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the Struise shop. Poured a nice looking hazy orange colour with a plump off white head which faded to a lingering medium size. Interesting aroma
that was fragrant and earthy, with notes of candy, yeast, alcohol and tropical fruits. Flavour was along similar lines, with some hop presence that manifested itself more towards the finish. Quite an unusual brew that I warmed up to as the glass was drained.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl bottle, 3 weeks old.
Pours a slightly hazy dark golden tot light copper color with a steady white head.
The aroma has lots of spicy hops, some malts and still some yeasty presence. The taste starts faintly sweet and ends in a spicy dry hopbitter finish.
Decent brew but for the time being to young, so a retaste is necessary.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Good dense, yellow head; pale amber beer. Herbal hops, greenery, root spices. Yeasty notes in the taste, with citrus, coriander, dry hops and greenmalt, rendering some sweetness retronasal. Quite slick, medium bodied. Aftertaste seems to yield some aniseed. This is definitely not my favourite Struise brew...
