Another 33cl Belgian bottle thatís been hanging around in my stash so long Iíve forgotten where it came from: Lot 22/17/11, BBD Aug 2016. The label claims it was imported into the US via San Fransisco, so God knows how it ended up within my stash in good old Shropshire. Poured carefully into a La Chouffe tulip on 16th Nov 2013. Hazy dark amber/dirty old gold, on top a full but swiftly falling off-white head. Alcohol laden fruit aroma, with yeast and malts in the mix. The taste followed the same lines, fruity, alcoholic and malty with a yeast underbelly. Plums, raisins and toffee apple type flavours vie with the yeastiness and alcohol to assert themselves. Plenty going on in the mouth, interesting and engaging, difficult to pigeon hole the true flavours, but Iíd have another, and another, and another just to try and find some sort of ending to my tasting dilemma.

Nose is belgian yeast, bread, a little cereal, hey, grass. Taste is honey, leading to a caramel, butter, soft fruits, toffee (a tiny bit of smoke) light spice in the finish. Mouthfeel is amazing like all Struise. Very nice beer.

Bottle from Au Grain DíOrge - Hazy amber withe good off white head, not persitent - aroma is caramalt, belgian yeast profile, hints of toffee, hints of sourness - aroma is malty, caramalt, spicy (probably yeast profile) - medium/full body, sweet, a little bit sour, good carbonation - good and interesting beer, not fan of the sourness in this beer

KyotoLefty (6704) - Kyoto, JAPAN - SEP 3, 2013
Bottle from ABS. Uninspired nose, faint, some jammy apricots, orange, grass, spices, and bread. Amber-orange color with lace. Spicy flavor, yeasty, cinnamon, caramel, apricot and apple, nicely bitter and earthy. Good hoppy finish, but quite a mess, spices, malts, weird and confused. Not horrible, but not so good either.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2013 Second bottle I was better prepared - I chilled it down first, but it still filled two pint glasses with foam, and I lost some more. Now a hazy reddish brown, not just mud, decent head once it calmed down. Sherbet lemon yeast aromas, dough. Sour tasting. Still not good, but not as bad as the first time. 330ml bottle at home. Gusher! Muddy brown. Smells infected. This is basically badly off. Iíd pour it away if I wasnít so mean. Got one more, so will re-rate when Iíve opened that one. 1.2

Pours a two finger off-white head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color, ton of yeast left in bottle. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Light caramel nose and flavor is dark fruit and sweet spice. Higher ABV is hidden. $5.99 for a 330ml bottle from Julioís Liquors Marlboro, MA.

330ml Bottle - Copper with a foamy head. Caramel, dried fruit, marzipan and nuts in the aroma. Fruity taste with sultanas, dried apricot and some slightly metallic hints.
