(bottle) pours a hazy amber-ruby colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of yeast, green ball peppers, cherries and balsamic vinegar, with light notes of bread dough. flavour is mostly the same, quite mellow, with notes of cherries, roasted malts, bread dough and a slightly tart finish. medium to heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

33cl bottle at home. Appearance: amber clear beer, unstable off white head. Nose: caramel, malts, little sour, but mostly caramel. Taste: little sour, malts, lots of sugar. Not really an enjoyable beer... Struise can do way better than this!

Bière classée comme flemish triple, ce qui est normal pour une 8 % abv, alors que ce n’était pas possible pour la simple X qui n’affiche que 6 % au compteur, et est pourtant appelée ainsi pour le marché américain. Donc il faut corriger l’erreur, mais il n’y en a pas qu’une sur le classement des bières belges aux States !!!! Sur le site de ratebeer, la X était une belgian ale, et celle-ci une strong ale … logique !!! Sauf que ce n’est pas une ale mais une triple à refermentation en bouteille … Bref, keep quiet …. Couleur ambre soutenu, curieux pour une triple, mais c’est ainsi chez les Struise.... Clarté nette. Bulles fines en fontaine intense au centre. Mousse blanc cassé qui tombe très vite, et couvre comme une nappe en soie à 1 mm. Odeurs de candi blanc, trèfle, pamplemousse doux, écorce de pin et houblon de Poperinge.. 1ère bouche douce sur des noisettes grillées, avec du malt caramel. Arrière-bouche avec des touches de houblon. 2ème bouche agréable en cascade céréales/houblon. Rétro-nez fruité abricot. 3ème bouche sur des fruits confits (abricot, poire) et du blé mûri. Arrière-bouche très complexe en céréales/fruits/bois blanc de fût. Longueur où on détaille la complexité ou on complexifie le détail … Alcool bien sous tout rapport. Levure construite, structurée, très belle et jolie pointe d’amertume. Finale qui parachève le travail. Une bière donc sans défaut, c’est dèjà un grand point, avec beaucoup de qualités, c’est encore mieux, et venant des Struise, alors c’est le ponpon …. Comprenne qui voudra.

33 cl bottle from dranken Geers. Fark hazzy amber body with a small off -white head. Strong carbonation. Spicy aroma. A little sour taste. **

Pleasantly zesty with a light fruity density on the palate; a touch of apricot and then some light tree-bark hops. Sour, sweet, and bitter all vie for attention, with none of them succeeding and the flavors cancel each other out to make for an overall simple beer that is not all that pleasurable, really. If anything, the mouthfeel is the best thing about it. Don’t need to have it again terribly soon.

33cl bottle poured into a tulip glass. Hazy deep amber with a massive beige head that is impossible to pour. Fruity nose (dried plums) with a hint of funk, yeast and spicy hops. Sweet caramel malt, fruity esters, lo bitterness, wine-like tartness and some alcohol. Med-full bodied, not very interesting, heavy and not easy to drink.

Overall: Very Belgian

On tap during Belgianfest at Max’s in Baltimore. Pours amber color with a large white head. Aromas are orange, citrus, spice, clove. Great mouthfeel and a balanced beer.

33cl Bottle from ABS Drinks Winksele. Slightly hazy orange-amber colour, white head. Aroma of white sugar, borderline metallic, ripe sweet fruits, slightly cloying, hint of citrus and alcohol. Flavour is medium-sweet, light tart, floral malts, acetone, quite fruity, some banana and melon, lemon, sugar, bitter-tart finish. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation.

Pours a amberorange colour with a large off-white head. Aroma of fruit, malts and caramel. Taste is moderate to heavy sweet...fruity, caramel and in the back some spices...long smooth bitter finish. Bit too sweet though.
