3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
31/03/2011 - 33cl bottle @ home BB: JAN/2016 (2011-126)
Little cloudy dark orange to amber coloured beer, ecru coloured creamy head, little stable and adhesive. Aroma: sweet fruits, citrussy hops, bit of caramel, but mostly pretty faint. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: fruity hops, a bit sweet and malty, bit bready also. Alcohol is noticeable. Aftertaste: citrussy hops, still quite some alcohol sweetness and ending pretty dry again, but not as much as the Westoek X. (If they give them the same name, I can compare them to one another :p ) Probably the sweet alcohol is doing it’s work here to balance the bitterness of the hops, but sadly enough that’s what makes this brew less interesting than the other one.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Gourmet Haus Staudt. Hazy dark amber in color with a medium off-white head. Sweet caramel and fruity notes with mild Belgian yeast on the aroma. Sweet caramel malt flavor, a bit weak, with Belgian yeast and mild hops, and not much else. A bit heavy on the mouthfeel given the flavor. Decent but not great

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 33cl, a cloudy copper-amber beer with huge head, got gushing. Nose is on caramel and caramalt with a sourish presence. Aroma is on the same but quite sweet, cherry touch, lot of caramel, anise, cinnamom. Near to a flemish red as the label suggests but less complex and quite sweet, lot of yeast notes.

Pours a orangish red/brown. Aromas of spice, coriander, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor has an alcohol taste to it, mixed with a nice smokey dark fruit. Also has strong hints of spice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Slightly hazy dark orange, small white head. Nose is floral candy sugars, honey and hints of grass. Taste is mild honey and floral candy sugar tones, hints of vanilla and heather. An OK tripel, but nothing too great. Guess even Struise can make bland-ish beers sometimes. :-)
