Rip Van Winkle Beer was originally brewed in the early 1900ís and dubbed "The Richest Bottle of Beer in the World." The new Rip is a malty bock beer as a turn of the century German would have brewed. Amazingly smooth for an 8% beer.

Nothing offensive, just extremely basic lacking any distinction, canít believe this is very nearly 9%, Iím looking for a lot more interest from something which allows few servings

This is one of the better beers from Weston. Mild, slightly sweet, decently balanced with some grassy hops.

Sweet malty nose. Sweetness is strong in this one. Caramel and some roasted notes. Tad spicy on finish. Nothing special

This beer is definitely very sweet smelling and has a sweet, malty taste. Deep reddish brown color and decent head with good lacing. I also taste roasted, caramel flavors as well. Decent beer with a slight bitter aftertaste. Nothing too special. Not terribly familiar with this style of beer either, so perhaps it is better/worse compared to the standard.

The appearance of this beer fuses a hazy auburn color with a large yet quickly disappearing white head, which looks very pleasing in the glass; furthermore, the aroma smells like bread yeast and slightly of toasted malts. Once sipped, the taste is quite sour and slightly sweet, and the palate combines a medium body, average carbonation, long malty finish, and a slick texture.

On tap. Pours a dark amber with a one finger tan head. Aroma is caramel and bread. Taste is sweet and malty with some hop bitterness at the end.

Bottle. Pours a brown color with off white head. Nutty, malty aromas. Toasty, malty, nutty flavors. Not bad, but definitely not good.

Bomber. Bought at Rimannís in Lenexa. Iím always a bit hesitant of Weston beers, given their history, but I really enjoyed this bock. Itís sneaky though, significantly stronger than it tastes. Malty sweet, with lots of banana and clove. Good lacing and a tannish off-white head that stayed longer than I expected. I heard that the Weston guys rebuilt their bottling line and it shows. This beer didnít have any of the old metallic tastes Iíve detected before. Great Job!!

Clear dark copper with some lacing. Malt aroma with some caramel and light fruit. Malt taste with slight sweetness, some nuttiness and slight bitter. Finishes with an astringent/metallic taste that is not pleasant and is unfortunately common in Weston beers. Did not enjoy. Might be done with Weston beers. Keep reading that they have problems with their bottling system, causing off flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The beer pours an amber color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of toffee and sugar. The flavor has some grapes, toffee, pepper and yeast. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Interesting.
