Pale yellow colour, clear, reasonably lively with fine beading. Thin ring of white foam persists, headless otherwise.
Quite pungent apple aroma. Get that sort of ’mature’ apple element in there, like an apple that is on its way to deteriorating. Some citric acidity hits high in the nose, peppery perfumey alcohol presence too.
Very full body, with decent length comparable to a white table wine. Carbonation is subdued, bit of tannin and acidity present, along with alcohol, drying out the palate.
Red delicious apple flavour on the body, starts quite sweet, bit of ripe pear in there, becomes more tart and spicy with odd savoury grassy/woody notes and alcohol-derived peppery notes which linger on the finish.
Quite a potent cider, doesn’t hide the abv all too well, but has a nice bit of tannin and acid that add some complexity to the flavour and mouthfeel. Couldn’t drink much more than 1 bottle. renffisch (521), london, Greater London, England
