Bottle. Pour was medium to light golden with a light apple aroma. Body was light with a mostly dry, but somewhat sweet character. Tasted like there was just a little sugar addition, for the alcohol content was 8.2%. The apple flavors were quite nice, not being too tart, sour, or sweet, however the alcohol was a bit strong. Decent.

Pours clear golden with small white head. Dry aroma of apples and fruits. Tart apple flavor, some sweetness but not too much. Very refreshing. Has nice round tart finish.

2008 Vintage bottle @ home

A rather fine cider. Pours a pale golden yellow with no head. Nice fruity apple aroma, nothing artificial. Has a full body, with a dry palate. The oak aging is slightly noticeable in the flavour, and is a nice touch. Recommended.

For me this is about as good as a cider will get.The tart, wild finish is kept to a minimum and a perservering sweetness balances the final bitter finish. Easy drinking and while not amazing, shows what a GOOD cider can do.

500ml bottle. Pale gold in colour, with a pleasant fruity aroma. Nice crisp apple flavour, with a relatively dry palate and nice mouthfeel. A very good cider.

[500ml bottle from Asda, High Wycombe] 2008 vintage, which I suspect is identical to other vintages. Very pale, clear sparkling gold. Aroma a little vinegar-y. On tasting it’s rather more appealing - it’s very smooth with very little carbonation and a growing dryness. Apples (obviously!). Only a slight hint of woodiness - nothing like an oak-aged beer. The alcohol is not at all apparent in the mouth, yet goes swiftly to your head! There’s some hint of lambic-like tartness in the finish. Not bad for a cider, but had hoped for more sign of the oak-aging in the taste. Made a rather good cider sauce for a pot-roast pheasant.

bottle, vintage 2008, bought at Waitrose Monmouth. Clear deep golden colour. Tart apple nose. Full-bodied, slightly astringent with full apple flavours and a pleasantly tart and dry character.

500ml bottle. 2008 vintage. Pale yellow colour, clear, reasonably lively with fine beading. Thin ring of white foam persists, headless otherwise. Quite pungent apple aroma. Get that sort of ’mature’ apple element in there, like an apple that is on its way to deteriorating. Some citric acidity hits high in the nose, peppery perfumey alcohol presence too. Very full body, with decent length comparable to a white table wine. Carbonation is subdued, bit of tannin and acidity present, along with alcohol, drying out the palate. Red delicious apple flavour on the body, starts quite sweet, bit of ripe pear in there, becomes more tart and spicy with odd savoury grassy/woody notes and alcohol-derived peppery notes which linger on the finish. Quite a potent cider, doesn’t hide the abv all too well, but has a nice bit of tannin and acid that add some complexity to the flavour and mouthfeel. Couldn’t drink much more than 1 bottle.
