This cider, which is made from top quality apples, has been allowed to mature in old oak vats for up to six months and then specially selected for Henry Weston, great-grandson of the founder, as the very best of the year's vintages.

500ml bottle that I picked up in Portland. Pours a bright clear very light in color straw yellow with no sign of carbonation. Concentrated crabapples, hint of vanilla, French oak and a touch of white grape. Meld of sweet tart red apples and tart green, white wine grapes, kind of boozey and wine like in the middle as the apples fall off a bit and the finish is toward the drier side as the oak notes show up with hints of the tart red apple notes coming back in.

500 ml bottle. 2009 vintage.
Pours a clear darkish yellow colour with a small foamy head on the edges. Aroma of tart apples with strong oak notes. Flavour of tart, fruity apples, alcohol and wood. Medium bodied with a slick mouthfeel and a exceptionally good, oaky and warming finish. Very good. Lets see what aging does to this.

Bottle 50 cl. Poured clear pale golden colour with fast disappering bubbles and no head. Fruity, sour apples aroma. Later on also somekind of faint fertilizer odour appeared. Flavour is sweet with sour apples and vanilla. Dry and pleasant sweet aftertaste over all.

Superb, Uncertian why this gets sucha low overall rating. For such a well integrated deliciously dry yet so flavoursome while not wieldng to more earthy sour style criminally drinkably and appaulingly moreish

Bottle. Golden colour. Weak aroma. The alcohol is not very evident. Dry apple taste, also something that resembles mushrooms! Some oak in the finish. Interesting.

Bottle (Vintage 2005 !!!!): Clear, pale greenish-golden, some foamy isles on the surface; solid and typical - not too sourish - nose: dry apples, not so tart, with a tinge of yeast; moderate to nearly solid sweet-sourish flavour, medium bodied and relatively soft; lingering sweet fruity (apples, what else) and sourish-tart finish. Well drinkable cider with well hidden alcohol........

2009 vintage cider. Smell is a little weak. Dry, somewhat sweet, and alcoholic. A decent drink, but the only thing really exceptional about the cider is the sugar content of the apples used to bring the abv to 8.2% (unless there was some sugar addition).

Bottle. Pour was medium to light golden with a light apple aroma. Body was light with a mostly dry, but somewhat sweet character. Tasted like there was just a little sugar addition, for the alcohol content was 8.2%. The apple flavors were quite nice, not being too tart, sour, or sweet, however the alcohol was a bit strong. Decent.
