3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2011 bottle. Appearance: light orange/yellow. Zero head. Aroma: quite ’scrumpy’ , fresh apples, a little wood, tart. Flavour: fresh apples, somewhat smokey, wood (oak), bacon, weird. Not that those flavours are bad, just that they’re unexpected. A smokey cider. Hmm.

Cider gift from Fin & Loz and Isobel, many thanks. 330ml bottle, vintage 2010, with a glass in a box. Clear straw coloured body. Bubbly ring to the rim of the glass. Sweet dry apples on the nose. Taste of dry and sweet apple juice. Smooth ending. Totally masked alcohol. Far too sweet for me, sorry (shared with Finn at his place in Tromsø, 01.10.2013).

2011. Faint aroma, thin texture but beautiful color and alcohol is well hidden. Watery but enjoyable. Can be served Ice cold, or at RT. Always a pleasure to have a glass.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2011. One of the best examples of strong, vintage English cider. Medium body and a real depth of taste as the 8.2% alcohol provides a warm cloak to the sweet, resinous flavours that embody this cider. Although not as tannin rich as I prefer, still a firm favourite.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Golden and fairly still. Aromas are caramel and wood with hints of eggy sulphur. Ripe apple fruitiness. Flavours are sweet and sour apple with dry woody notes and background caramel. Fairly evident alcohol. Easy to drink despite the strength.
Earlier Rating: 1/26/2005 Total Score: 2.7
Pale gold in colour. Aromas are sweet and earthy apples with some sour notes. Flavours are sweet(ened) apples - a bit artificial. Slighty woody and dry with an acidic, slight vomit finish. You can’t really taste the alcohol. So so.
