Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Jun 13, 2006 50 cl bottle. Pale golden colour with a weak head. Aroma of oak, apple, alcohol and some sweetness. Flavour of apple, pears, oak, wood and alcohol. Ends up very tasty. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 21, 2006 (Bottle 50 cl) Clear golden with a rough, dissipating head. Tart apple aroma. Medium body, quite sweetish with distinct apple flavours. Very soft and pleasant, the alcohol is definitely there but yet quite discreet. 180506 ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia May 13, 2006 Mmmm, alcohol soaked apples, my favourite! With all the subtleties of a kick in the bollocks, this was actually a lot easier to drink than most modest strength ciders. Poured into a pint glass, quite cool but not chilled. Obscure looking, extra large bubbles burst to the surface in a clockwise eddy forming a dense ring of froth on the meniscus. The body of cider a painfully pale, clear gold with a tinge of yellow. Fresh, in fact very fresh, well rounded and doughy soft-pulped apple nose with just a touch of acidic prickle. Soft in the mouth, but lacking in subtleties. A pleasant level of sweet juicy apples with a touch of pear softness starts it off before it dries right out and is all alcohol (apple wine!) down the back and through to the astringent and dry swallow that shows just a touch more fruit. Body fills out and it’s well rounded flavourwise, and besides being almost bi-polar (flavour one side, alcohol the other) it’s very well balanced. I liked it, nothing extraordinary but it went down a charm for a high ABV cider. (50cL, BBE 01/08, Jandakot Liquor) JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Mar 26, 2006 Bottle. Clear golden colour with plenty of visible fizz. Pretty nice apple aroma, not too sweet. Fruity and fairly sweet flavour with some earthiness and noticable warming alcohol in the finish. Pleasant mouthfeel. Good. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England Mar 20, 2006 Bottled. As with many other Weston bottles, this is a pale affair with some tart apple, plenty of fizz and an echo of oak. Rather polished rather than rough-edged but still a half decent drink. Hanna (10), Turku, Finland Feb 20, 2006 Bottle. Clear gold colour. Semisweet natural red apple aroma. Very sweet (but in a natural, fruity way) and slightly sourish red apple flavor. Slightly earthy and faintly mouldy. Hint of caramel. Dryish aftertaste and mouthfeel. Delicious, but maybe a bit too sweet. harrisoni (6704), Ashford, Kent, England Jan 29, 2006 Bottle from Sainsbury. Pale gold, no head. Some rubber upfront, but then fresh apple fruit aroma. Carbonation in mouth is ok. Bit more rubber, but some nice apple/peach flavour. Finish has some intense syurupy fruit and good dryness. Above average commercial cider. But then what do I know about cider? Sobchak (131), Skagen, Denmark Jan 8, 2006 Bottle. - Woody nose. Quite sweet taste at first, but with a slightly harsh acidity in the finish. Easy drinkable for a 8,2 % cider.
