This popular award winning traditional Scrumpy strong cider is naturally cloudy and medium dry in flavour! It was named after our 1921 Aveling Porter Steam Engine, which has found rest in our Henry Weston Garden which is open to the public all year round!

Cloudy, light yellow colour and minor white lacing. Sweet fruity aroma but quite yeasty as well. Very dry taste with bitter finish, some sweet apple in there as well. Medium carbonation, light mouthfeel, a lot like apple soda. I did not enjoy this one that much though.

Bottle, 500ml. *** Colour: Cloudy bright yellow. Small head. *** Nose: Baked and green apples, some lemon.Mild vanilla. *** Mouthfeel: Medium body, hardly watery. Soft carbonation. *** Taste: Sweet and sour apples, strong lemon at the start. Vanilla and oak dominate the middle, again with lemony notes. Dry and lemony finish, oak again. Lasting aftertaste of apple peel and lemon. *** Impressions: Highly agreeable cloudy "scrumpy" cider, extremely refreshing due to the lively lemon notes. Apple fruitiness is satisfactory. Notable influences of the oak aging. Another good one from Westons.

Cask HP at The Crosse Keys Bishopsgate as ’Westons Old Rosie Scrumpy’, 7.3%. The barkeep advised me that this would get me smished, but I know all about that - I used to drink a lot of this stuff prior to university. Pale yellow, clear, still, bubbly white head. Aroma is pleasant airy honey and apple. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is sweet apple, a little gluey, not too sweet - a touch syrupy but it dries out a lot. In fairness this is a solid, drinkable scrumpy.
