Cask. Golden colour, not much head. Aroma is vanilla, wood and some alcohol along with rotten apples. Flavour is blue cheese and smoke along with the same stuff as in the aroma. Nice and balanced for being 7.3%.

First hand pull in Estonia! Lovely rich orange, clear and no head. Lovely sharp fruity aroma, a touch sour, but not acidic, if that makes sense. Rich full sweet fruity taste, but with a dry bite to it that crispens things up beautifully - nice and woody. The palate is so dry it sends shivers down my spine, but there’s no harshness at all. A stunning filtered cider.

BiB at the Wharf, Aalborg. Clear, golden with some white foam at the rim. Sour apples and yeast in the aroma. The flavor is of green apples, yeast and with a clean, medium, sour and astringent mouthfeel. Like it. (060506)

Ciders equivalent to ‘Goon’. This one came in a 2 litre, cask bag so I served it up neat at room temperature which turned out to be right on the money. It pours a translucent honey gold. Bares a hefty, sugared, pickled apple nose – quite pronounced for a still cider, and just a little spicy. Lovely, silky mouthfeel, a little prominent green apple acidity, rather sweet overall and very fresh in flavour. Subtle astringency on the swallow, tangy, sweet/sour mix with good, clean ‘apple pulp’ flavours lingering long. Very easy going this, no complexity here, just straight-up ol’ cidery fun. I liked it, though the cask didn’t last near long enough. (2L, Jandakot liquor, 20/11/07)

Cask, Old Harkers Arms, Chester. Good looking vivid darkish orange colour. Sweetish ripe apple nose. Smooth mouthfeel. Tasty fruit in the flavour with the oak aging showing up also. however . Very drinkable with the ABV quite skilfully masked. Nice cider.

Cask at The Falcon (JDW), High Wycombe, Bucks. Golden with a very slight haze and a rough white head that soon dissipates into nothing. Typical Westons aroma – very woody (oak), fruity, slightly musty, a touch of funk and some alcohol presence. In the mouth this is medium sweet with some satisfying dryness and a touch of astringency. Juicy apples and a pleasant oaken woody character typical of the producer with some hints of egg and sulphur down the back of the throat. The alcoholic element is fairly warming. Aftertaste is lasting with oak and apple cores. Like most Westons cider’s it’s very approachable with very little to scare off the novice, but unlike the mass-market producers this still has some bite to keep it interesting.

(Bag-in-a-box 300 cl) Clear, fully golden completely lacking head. Fresh, sourish apple aroma - almost like apple juice. Medium-bodied with sweet’n’sour apple notes, but fresh all the way through. 291006

From tap at Charlies. Pours clear and golden yellow with no head. Light phenol apple aroma. Flavour is sweet at first before a solid phenol and woody almost smoke note shows through. Light acidic finish with a lingering woody note mixed with a light apple fruity note. Dry phenol and woody into the very far finish. Nice.
