Totally clear old gold colour; lazy bubbling. Dry, sweet apples, but with a sharp edge, as green apple aldehyde or even acetone/solvent. Faint, but quite present. Apples in the taste again, but with repeating a pharmaceutical, aldehyde/ketone-like flavour. Cough syrup, as in masking codeïne. Finish has a marked acidic touch. Sharp, specially backthroat, bit agressive. Not my favourite cider. Might well be organic, so are some of the contents of the pots in the shop with the green cross.

500ml bottle. Clear topaz pour with no bubbles. Very fermented apple nose with a little mustiness and a hit of butterscotch (?). That buttscotch vibe really comes out on the palate and blends nicely with the apple and vanilla. There’s a smoky note in there I’m really grooving on too. A little sticky on the palate.

A cider I regularly choose to drink - mellow, quite sweet aromas with hints of oak and a caramel - like sweetness (toffee apple in a glass) . Not too heavily carbonated, slightly sour on the tongue but just the right balance of sweet, sour and bitter for my tastes.

I believe this has now been re-branded "Wyld Wood" and I would say the name is very fitting! The taste certainly is slightly on the "wyld" side with a strong sour kick at the first mouthful. A medium dry cider, the fresh taste combinations mask this slightly. The oak vat flavour does come through if your patient. In my opinion, this is quality Herefordshire cider.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Clear golden pour with a small white head. Nose is all apple and wood with a touch of acid. Very acidic in the taste with the wood coming through. Didn’t like this one. Quite strong as far as ciders go

500ml brown bottle. Golden colour, no head. Nose has sweet fresh apples with a slight winy edge. Sweet apples in the mouth, a bit of appleskin dryness in the finish. High carbonation with a medium body. A lot better than I expected.

Freshly juiced apple through and through in the nose. Golden color with minimal carbonation. Starts sweet and finishes dry as expected. Leaves an aftertaste of apple skin. I’d drink it again.
