The aroma is malty, with notes of wheat citurs, bread and tapicoa. Flavour is complex with lots of belgian yeast, malts and spice with even some sourness. Nice dry finish. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 21, 2006 Bottle. Pours a golden-orange and a large, rocky white head. The aroma has lots of spice, yeasty cookies, and bread. Light bread starts out and the hops follow. Medium carbonation. Yeast length is significant as it gives a good amount of body and there is surprisiingly a lot of hop flavour and bitterness; oranges are resultant and are quite flavourful. There is also some fruit in the way of pears and apples. Excellent and great to drink in all aspects.
Had this at the Kulminator on May 17, 2006. henrik (41), Århus, Denmark

Complex fruit flavour with an unusual hopppy bitterness for a blonde. Bitter finish. Reminds me of Orval but with more dimensions. It’s very enjoyable. nrdoughty (3), London, England does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 10, 2006 Blonde beer - large head but very airy with loads of bubbles -- the head reduces over 1-2 minutes to thin foam. Smells something like lemon meringue pie, lke Hoegaarden with lempn, but without the added lemon. Creamy drinking experience with a fresh citrus taste. Solid wheat undertones but not overpowering. Excellent beer expecially for warmish weather. Like the other westvleteren beers it is an unmarked bottle but this time with a raised ridge around the neck reading ’trappistenbier’.
