3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cL bottle. Pours almost white/clear but becomes slightly yellow. Clear fruity aroma with yeast elements. Carbonation as well. Almost no sweetness, has fruit notes, slightly nutty as well. Yeast and citric notes are dominating. Reminded me of Orval without being too similar. Aftertaste is suprisingly bitter, yet not overly dominating.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A slightly unclear golden beer with at very good head. It has a very powerful aroma of fruit and ale yeast. The flavor is fresh at first and then woody and finishing with some sharpness on the back of the tongue - a for me unrecoqnizable spice. A very complex flavor.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottle 33 cl) It’s rare but it does happen: a new Trappist beer. Pale golden with a huge head. Quite lightbodied with a very, very pronounced bitterness throughout. Fruity and fresh but also a bit sharp. Rather unusual trappist - perhaps Orval is the closest relative. But this lacks that beers refined spicyness. 220501

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Hazy pale apricotty orange/yellow colour with huge, longlasting foamish bubbly head, lacing. Spices, herbs, yeast and wheat in aroma. Also some hints of fruits and flowers. Flavour of herbs, fruit with flowery hoppish hints. Some wheat, caramel and grassyness in flavour too. A bit "soapish" at some point too. Sweetish bitter aftertaste at first, which then turns into smooth hops, and lasts long. Very well done brew! Rich carbonation, but not disturbing, makes palate quite pleasant.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very pale yellow, only slightly hazy. Grassy dry hop aroma. Medium bodied, dry with just a hint of toffee, clean firm malt profile. Like an elegant north German pilsener!

Cloudy deep blond color (the bottle has been sitting for a couple of months) medium sized creamy head. The aroma is spicy (pepper and coriander), but also a bit papery, dusty. The mouthfeel is quite smooth; there is some flavor of spicy malt; the bitterness slowly finds its path, and in the final is quite strong; the hop impression would stay in the palate for long. Well brewed, well balanced; more intensive and sharp than the aged bottle, but it doesn’t have the intensity of Orval.

The color is light amber, just a bit hazy (the bottle has been sitting for 4 years undisturbed). The aroma is a bit spicy too, pepper, but with a curious note that reminds me the kitchen of my friend Wang Qing (black bean sauce probably) then there is also some caramel, light Madeira wine; at times floreal, and fruity without being fruity. The mouthfeel is still well smooth like the fresh version, a bit rounder; there is caramel flavor, dry, with strong bitterness, a bit dusty; there are just traces of oxidisation. The final starts losing some bitterness, compared to the fresh version. A positive experience; less easy to drink than the fresh version, but with some more complexity.
Gold ale; wonderful thick head; misty. Very nice hop aroma, herbal. Strong hop in the mouth, enough bitter, not balanced by the malt. Strong and aromatic hop palate.
